Kentish Town Win Top Award

Recommended Posts

Are you being sarcastic because I have spelt it wrongly, it means overcome with rage which is what Jane and Roger must be feeling right now, I can't wait for Jonno to come on and give us his thoughts.

I'm not sure you can be incandescent on the inside.

You spelt it correctly.

I looked it up and it means

1. Emitting visible light as a result of being heated.

2. Shining brilliantly; very bright.

3. Characterized by ardent emotion, intensity, or brilliance eg."an incandescent performance"

What sort of dictionary do you have, that doesn't sound right or did Jane shine brilliantly when the announcement was made. Did our 'new' Secretary make a speech of Richard Attenborough proportions on my behalf when he went up to collect the award, I would have certainly said a few words if I had been there.

Thank God you weren't then! No-one else said anything abouttheir awards - it would have made you look a right prat!

Was the Forum not mentioned, I half expected 'Sugar' to stand up under Any Other Business and make a fool of himself again as was the case with his pointless letter to the SSML.

I'm surprised by this, I would have wanted to say some thank you's and also commiserate with Hoddesdon Town.

I'm still quite surprised that you didn't show up at the AGM in order to be seen. I don't think the SSML hierarchy would have minded in the slightest if someone had picked up their award and then said a few words, afterall it was the glitzy annual SSML 'Oscars' with attendees able to let their hair down following a long hard season.

I already knew you'd never attended an AGM, but this just confirms it!

I readily admit that I haven't but why bother having awards if the winners can't express their thanks briefly and say a few words, they don't have to go into Dickie Attenborough or Gwyneth Paltrow mode.

Horace - Pray tell me, was there rousing applause when our name was called as winners of the SSML Division 1 programme award and was it like the Oscars in terms of 'and the winner is'.... .Did you notice 'Sugar's' reaction to the result out of interest, he was probably thinking that would have been Haringey Borough had I still been at Coles Park.

No. It was one of a whole string of awards that took a long time to hand out, at the beginning of the meeting. There was polite applause each time - shorter in the case of your award as the Kentish Town contingent were sitting on the front row!
I believe I am correct in saying that Aki did not witness the announcement as he was a little late arriving and, when he did get there, stood in the open doorway.

My point is that's the person he is, I see nothing has changed. A Club Chairman should be punctual, indeed the first to arrive and the last to leave and should be at an event representing his Club because he wants to be not because he has to.
