Kent County Cricket

As it is officially the cricket season i was looking at the BBC website (kent) and saw that Canterbuty Council have approved the redevelopment of the St Lawrence ground, nice artists impressions all looks very good, apparently there were local objections but even so it was approved by thier council. It just seems to me that other Kent councils have no problem with new schemes to generate interest and support and to promote their towns and cities yet poor old Thanet remains in the dark ages.

I have been here in Guernsey for nearly 5 years now and if you bear in mind the population is just over 60,000, there are at least 5 football grounds here with facilities as good as what is currently at Margate, in fact most of them are better. The sides that play there are all local Parish teams of a Sunday League standard but all have floodlights and permanent changing rooms and thriving social clubs.

The main arena in Footes Lane has an additional all weather running track and new Grandstand that sits 500 people and athletics arena it is a fantastic local amenity its a shame i havent mastered the digital camera yet because I know that you Thanetians could not fail to be impressed, yes i know this is a wealthy Island but the law makers are focused on providing facilities for all.

KCCC/KCCB Sold a painting as they could not afford to pay for its insurance, raising them a lot of capital. Redeveloping St Lawrence is key as Kent not afford to run the club with only 35days of cricket a year, the hotels should bring in much needed revenue.

Another good thing about the redevelopment is Tunbridge Wells will gain a couple more games, and the Neville ground is far superior.
