Why??? And why do they need to build a smoking shelter?

The law changes on July 1st.
No smoking in public or enclosed spaces.

Many business have built or erected small smoking shelters to cater for staff.
Stadia will have to decide their ownb policies and how they enforce it...I would suggest the any stand with a roof, will be no smoking, no matter whether it's open ended or not.

I have read the rules, and they are still ambiguous, in certain areas...for example signage !

of course they are ambiguous...cherie blair forced the legislation thro' by putting tony on a blow job ban....fckn silly scouse scrubber...the fact that she's in downing street tells you all need to know about the decline in this countries standards....mixing with convicted swindlers and lesbian gurus....her father was a drunk and a womaniser and I must protest about everything in the strongest possible terms...

anyway...thats another story but 'public places'...what does that mean then...its a public place in the middle of a field....

we have taken legal advice and one of our stands and all open areas will remain smoking areas..quite correctly the internal areas will be non smoking...our attendences will rise above the expected levels as the floaters come in droves and we shall use the extra money to erect a platinum suite smoking area...

so there... grin

Come on now Uncle, dont let the Daily Mail's anti Cherie cloud your vision...

This legislation is to guard against law suits and to safeguard employees against passive smoking.

An indictment of the blame culture and the "me me me" culture, fostered in the 80's.

Everyone is out for themselves...as a consequence, govt and businesses are overly defensive...

I stopped smoking around 2 years 7 months and 7 days ago and can't stand he smell of smokers anymore.

But we should still have an area for sparking up as I remember watching the gate and it is realy painfull without a fag to get you through. In fact watcing football was one of my most stressful times and I could smoke around 10 during one game.

I never read the daily mail.....but I shall start if they have been slagging off the common council house freeloading scrubber from kirkby...

this legislation is nothing to do with passive smoking law suits.....if that was the case then they also have to ban drinking do they not as more deaths..assaults and marriage break ups occur as a result of that little social activity than any other...

and I think its wholly outrageous that you should make claims on a public forum about the good citizens of this country being all out for themselves...good lord man....this is england....the land of green fields yeomen and sturdy oaks and thatched cottages and corner stores...ah yes....corner stores such as the one where our greatest ever leader was brought up to believe in all things good about our country...

there is no greed culture in england...its a myth cultivated by cherie blair and all the common gangsters in downing street to ensure their own brand of pinko sandle wearing kaftanesque life style...

I must venemously protest... bootyshake

In my opinion, all cigarettes, pipe tobacco, cigars, rolling baccy etc, should be confiscated at the turnstiles, piled high on the centre circle and set fire to. By this method everybody in the ground can have a good smoke (whether they want one or not) before the game starts.

The heat from the fire would also assist in the drying of the waterlogged pitch during times of inclement weather. - Happy bunnies all round.

I'm a considerate smoker. If i'm watching footy within a group, i will stand behind them on my own when i want to light up. Smoke rises, so you shouldn't breathe mine in. Bars can be fitted with extractor fans that will suck the smoke up...

A designated outside area would be acceptable by most I would have thought.Yes,I smoke & I don't think I'm being too selfish in asking for one.

You then have a choice as to whether you enter that area. As I am a smoker I already abide by non-smokers wishes in certain places anyway, mainly indoors & I would have continued to do this even if a ban hadnt come into force.

I would hope that in return those non-smokers could allow us our wishes too on the outside.

If all this is supposed to be about the ozone layer disappearing then its bollox. The sun & its continuing increase in heat is the reason that thats occurring anyway.

I see people cant walk more than two dogs at any one time now. This country's going mad.Bloody hell we might have to pay a tax on fresh air soon, those that want it that is.l.o.l.
