Smoking Ban

Recommended Posts

If people can smoke elsewhere in the ground they will exhale the filthy fumes once they return inside to the clubhouse therefore bringing the murk into the clubhouse anyway. If people have to smoke OUTSIDE THE GROUND then this will put them off lighting up between 3pm and 5pm IMO therefore cleaner air all round in general.

I thought that swearing was banned in grounds anyway - however sadly people ignore that rule - in the same way as they will ignore a smoking ban. Their argument for breaking the rule is - 'why is person x allowed to swear at the ref /players and I am not allowed to smoke'. Rules have to be applied fairly.

Sorry disagree with this - pure nonsense - but all good fun smile

BTW - I would still feel the same if I was a smoker or a non-smoker - I hate rules and being told what to do LOL

Whilst I agree smoking is a filthy habit, I'd have to question why any Club would want to risk further reducing their core support by banning smokers from lighting up in the ground.

However, please give credit to MFC for allowing an open debate on this subject and not enforcing thier views on the supporters.

As I have already stated though I would support a total smoking ban but, I do not like dictiorial rule. Therefore, with reluctance I would accept a designated smoking area which can be avoided if desired.

To put another problem into the ashtray though what happens when segreagated matches are played is there a three way segregation 1) Home non somking supporters 2) Away non smoking supporters 3) Home and away smoking supporters.

Although a non smoker I disagree with this law (maybe there should be smoking riots on a par with the Poll Tax riots)

Smoking should be allowed anywhere in the ground apart from the clubhouse/boardroom/hospitality suite.

Maybe a segregated area in the seating area too.

When the snoop....sorry the official from the Council turns up to check he will probably find something wrong so as to justify his existance

many supporters change ends at half time so you might need two or more smoking areas if you took that route.

As an ex-smoker I tend to stand out of the way of smoke from fellow supporters but would not like to be segregated from them, so no smoking inside but as we are outside please.

whatever you do you cannot please everybody so good luck and thanks for asking

Why??? And why do they need to build a smoking shelter?

The law changes on July 1st.
No smoking in public or enclosed spaces.

Many business have built or erected small smoking shelters to cater for staff.
Stadia will have to decide their ownb policies and how they enforce it...I would suggest the any stand with a roof, will be no smoking, no matter whether it's open ended or not.

I have read the rules, and they are still ambiguous, in certain areas...for example signage !
