Smoking Ban

With the National smoking ban less than three weeks away we would like your opinions on whether you would like us to adopt a total smoking ban throughout Hartsdown Park on match days or to reserve an uncovered area for people to smoke, for example, between the turnstiles and the changing rooms.

A total smoking ban would be my preference. However, I can appeciate the need for some people to have a smoke.

stopping people smoking in football grounds is madness and will lead to massive drops in attendences...

I really don't mind a total smoking ban (cos i'm gonna have to lump it anyway) as long as the clubs that do will make it easy for us smokers to slip in and out of the grounds. Preferably via the bar

Total smoking ban in Hartsdown would be my choice but by the changing rooms where the wind can blow the foul stuff away sounds good to me if we really have to have an area.

Uncle Urchin is only bothered as he's a chain smoker himself And one of the Hornchurch entourage when they come down..not in a great position to pass judgement on another club when a) he's in the group affected by the ban and his allegiances lie elsewhere

 

Disgusting habit. Kick it and then you don't have a problem.

All non-seating open areas should allow smoking.

 

This is the policy adopted by all county cricket clubs in the UK this season and it has worked well this season.

 

Where people are sitting there is no-smoking.

 

It is also a good idea if clubs were to provide cigarette bins to allow the safe and neat disposal of the butts.

I reckon the fans who dont go to footy cos they want to smoke, will be very minimal...and will be replaced by fans, coming back because of the smoke free atmosphere.

After all, smokers wont be able to light up anywhere, so it's not a case of them finding something else to do, on a Saturday afternoon...

I think drinking is a disgusting habit...and swearing... so lets ban those from all grounds as well.....

I shall be spitting my dummy out and shall not be travelling to any non smoking grounds next season...

unless they have built a little smoking shelter...and which clubs have the funds to do that, at £3,000 a pop...

read the regulations...clubs are free to allow smoking in open areas...even the rule on stands is ambiguous and hardly enforceable if they have open sides...

Yes - but smoking is not banned in sporting arenas which some of the anti-smoking lobby are claiming.

Sorry, but I can't see how the air will be any different outside - totally agree that the air inside clubhouses will be cleaner - but not outside.

of course they can but we are talking legislation here and there is no law against allowing smoking in open areas....

we shall see next season but my money is on our attendences being higher as we pick up the smokers who want to watch a game....not all fans are manic tribalistic nutters in support of one team...there a thousands of floaters who go to football matches for an afternoons entertainment and if they smoke they shall patronise the smoking stadia...
