Very sad to read the statement on the EFC Site regarding their current position.

There will be many Town supporters who are sorry to see the once GREAT E's drop further down the Leagues and into the ESL.

I for one would like to wish them every good fortune for their future.

 

I wonder what the Councillors who sold Enfield short with the "sale" of the old Stadium are thinking now ?

Most probably, couldn't give a toss.

 

So, what chance of a merger or ground share now ?

I think the ground share looks even less likely now. I would still support a merger if it didn't mean having to accomodate the position of the lower placed club.

DOY, Is that a new ruling?

I only ask as Dagenham merged with Redbridge Forest back in the nineties when we were in the premier division and the following season played as Dagenham and Redbridge in the conference

The rule was changed a few years back. Romford and Collier Row merged (cough splutter) in 96-7 and Romford jumped two divisions, but now any merger results in playing in the lower level team's league.

Personally I favour a merger but there is no chance of it happening with EFC's present chairman, who has said, I believe, that he wouldn't mind sharing with us but has no intention of any form of union.

Nothing to do with Town, BUT, it does seem a little strange that EFC state they will keep their current playing squad as their budget will be as last season.

As we at Town are aware, the gates for ESL games are 30 - 50 at best with the "occasional" 100 for local games.

How many "local ESL games" relate to Ware, Herts other than Sawbo?

Will the current squad want to play the likes of Southend Manor, Clapton and Hullbridge etc ?

I do fear that there will be darker days ahead for this Grand Old Club.

People seem to be concerned with the FA rule that a merged club must start in the lower of the two respective leagues.

 

But if the Step7 rule can be broken,why not the merger rule as well?? Have the FA ever had a rule they have broken ,amended,or ignored?

There is 1 rule they have never broken ls. The one that says they have to spend their entire expenses account every year

This is a major issue that affects our club albeit indirectly. If they had got their club from the receiver and moved into Donkey Lane then things for ETFC might have been very different financially. We have had a reprieve in attendances (hopefully) - Let's win the league and put some distance between us and them!

What reprieve in attendances are you thinking of?

There was distance between ETFC and EFC at the end of last season and there still is.

Next you will be saying that Brimmo are off to Donkey Lane!

The only thing I agree with you is that we want to win the league and this our business.
