Dorking new manager

Recommended Posts

I am surprised JR has not been on telling everyone of the great new Manager at Dorking.

Is the old Chipstead Manager who got the sack for the team being rubbish.

I can't see him bringing in a load of good players and none of the current players are staying ( so they say ).

Maybe the people of Dorking will all go and watch the new Dorking play - Anyone know what is happening with all that and where they will play and be called.

I'm sure that the new manager will bring in new players, also when players know that a team is short they seem to find their own way. I can't honestly see last years Dorking players wanting to play at a lower level so i would be surprised if they all left.

Evidently you will still be able to watch Bookham every other week at Meadowbank. asien

I haven't been able to get an early copy of the Dorking Advertiser yet.

Have the Club named the coach as well ?

What about the new sponsor ?

..... Or as Big Brian would say.....

"Your usual JR ?"

New Manager Appointed

Dorking FC are pleased to annouce that they have appointed Tony Webb as their first team manager over the weekend and look forward to the season ahead in the Combined Counties League Premier Division.

From a strong set of applicants, the club interviewed a short list of candidates over the weekend, Tony Webb emerging as the unanimous choice of the club.

Dorking are delighted to welcome Tony back to the club, having started last season as coach in the Steve Lunn managment team last season before leaving after 2 months to join the management team at Epsom and Ewell.

Tony is a well respected figure in Ryman and CCL circles. A fine goalkeeper in his playing days, he played for many years at Leatherhead and Tooting & Mitcham Utd, earning promotion with with both Clubs.

Webb has managed at Chipstead, as well as being involved in the management set ups at Epsom & Ewell, Chessington as well as Dorking.

Tony will be assisted by Peter Augustine, a UEFA B coach who is in the course of taking his UEFA A badge, the highest coaching badge available to coaches in both the professional and semi professional leagues. Peter has a vast array of experience both as player (he played amongst other clubs for Northwood and Wealdstone) and has coached in Ryman and Combined Counties League clubs. Most recently the Peter worked together with Tony Webb at Epsom and Ewell, and has coached and managed at Brook House and Edgware among other clubs.

Tony and Pete have embraced Dorking's vision for the future as a community club and will oversee not only the first team but also will take an active role in the development of the U18 Dorking FC SYL midweek side, as well as involvement in the coaching of Dorking FC's affiliated clubs Dorking Colts, Dorking Girls FC and the 350 plus boys and girls in Brockham Badgers FC set up.

In another positive move, last Thursday night, the Southern Youth League unanimously voted Dorking U18s back into the Southern Youth League after a gap of some 5 years. This is a central plank in the club's aims to entrench itself within the community, the midweek floodlit league side will aim to be the best youth side in the district competing against the likes of Conference South Lewes' U18 set up. Steve Upfold will manage the side having built up a very good colts squad over the last three years.

The club hope this will attract the cream of local youngsters to DFC and that the youngsters will form a stream of local talented recruits for the Dorking FC first team..

Dorking FC will be announcing their first team friendly dates shortly, already games with Croydon, Walton Casuals, Corinthian Casuals and others have been lined up. Dates for these games will be released within the next week. The match V Leatherhead in the Advertiser Trophy was set for Aug 14th but will need to changed as the CCL league programme starts this year on the 11th August

ABSOLUTE RUBBISH !

I have been asked by the DFC Press Officer to clarify.

Play Anywhere Gaffer ? (Not another crystal ball carrier I hope)

I have it on the best authority that Peter will be joining Tony with DFC for the coming season. In fact I have been asked by Tony, via our Press Officer to state: "That is rubbish can you discredit it please !"

The rest of the message asks me to establish who the sender is, but as he has only sent two messages as 'Play Anywhere Gaffer', one can only assume another alias.

By the way - I did hear tonight that DFC have had 40 (FOURTY) applications to play for them, so the creepers-back had better be quick. DFC's loss, Bansteads gain ?

It was suggested tonight that DFC run a reserve team, but what with the Girls and Under 18's - Hey-Ho ! - The pitch can't take all that !

NOW bite me !

big jr

Im amazed you and the press officer have got so animated about one forum post about the assistant manager/coach.

Interesting choice of words in your post

"Discredit it"

not "deny it" no quotes from the man involved?

Anyway seriously good news the club has a management structure and people willing to play.

Any comments about the status of Dorking Football club ltd?

Are MVDC still evicting DFCL?

Any sign of the accounts?

nearly three months overdue now, anything to hide?

Or the sponsor?

The accounts HAVE been forwarded to Companies House. It can take a fair amount of time for them to appear up on site. Admittedly they were late being submitted, but this is often common practise with small companies.

To date no letter of eviction has been received by the club, and the Management have another meeting with the Chief Exec. of MVDC in the very near future.

The 'man involved' as you named him, is a very busy man, unlike retired big me ! We communicate regularly, usually daily by e-mail or phone.

Anything else ? - Bearing in mind, that I am NOT an official spokesperson for DFC !

I just wondered why that issue caused such a fuss with all the other problems down at Meadowbank.

First team players.

Sorry Bookham, (and especially young Teffers).

Bookham WILL be at Meadowbank in the coming season, and are assisting DFC in preparing the pitch.

That's friendship for yer !
