Enfield Have Folded?

Reading reports on another`s site that Enfield have folded and will be replaced by Ilford.

Can`t find any confirmation of this but he usually gets his info right.

Must say i`m a bit shocked because their fans were talking recently of the club ending the groundshare at Ware and moving back to Enfield.

Very sad to hear that. Enfield used to be a massive club regularly attracting crowds of over 1,000 and were the last club to win the Conference before automatic promotion to the Football League came in.

Quite ironic that the first team to win promotion from the Conference, Scarborough are going along the sames lines as well.

Rumours they may re-form at a lower level. All rather strange.

Southbury Road had without a doubt the Best Pitch in Non League Football. It was a very sad day when the bulldozers arrived. That bloomin Chairman has a lot to answer for!!!

It was a great ground, but did need a bit of a facelift, but it certainly did have character. Got mullered a bit when Saracens Grounshared with EFC, to be honest I think that was the beginning of the end.

Still cest la vie, at least Enfield Town FC rose out of the ashes.

By the way our Brimmo Pitch is now being looked after by the same Groundsman that tended the Southbury Road Pitch.

I'd imagine the deal with Saracens was to get some much needed cash in. Unfortunately it seems the chairman had other plans.

You are not wrong there. I don't think he bothered with any 'real' legal advice on any of his deals. Maybe if he had Saracens would have not left the ground in they state they did ie: minus the covered terracing we had which was removed to put up a temporary seated stand for them. But hey ho that is all in the past now. Life goes on.

Still don't stop me feeling angry though!!!

That reminds me of my infamous rant against the Enfield manager at the home game last season when he got a bit lairy with the Yellow Army.

"Your chairman, sold you done the river!!!"
