I'm not sur that its so bad a thing to have two differnt types of striker on the pich at the beginning. Sammy and Tony have certainly scored a lot of goals, but their style of play need service that our midfield doesnt seem to be able to provide.

 

Maybe on a mudpitch the long ball out of defence was an acceptable option. Certainly Tony was playing well below his best, and deserved to substituted leading scorer or not. Thats what rotation is all about.

 

Are Gilkes and Bubb fit? I dont recall seing either of them on Tuesday, (but that doesnt mean they wert there)

Tony was well below his best as he operates much better on balls to feet and through balls. The surface on Saturday certainly didn't allow for that. With Sammy or Hodge, they both are more aerialls competetive and are more likely to win aerial challenges against 6' plus defenders which is why we need to start one, or both, for those dodgy pitches.

 

I note that Sammy again wasn't included in the starting eleven for the game Tuesday night. Just what exactly is Browne playing at? If, as a rumour suggests, Winston does get fed up with Brownes ineptness and leaves, Browne will have a massive backlash on his hands from fans and players alike.

Bubb was definitely at Wivenhoe, he was sitting with Dominic Jean Zepherin and Rocastle near the tv watching the arsenal match.

OK Tony didn't have a great game on Saturday, but I still don't think he should have been the one to go off. He scores a lot of oportunist goals, and on a pitch like saturdays, those sort of chances are going to occur sooner or later, and with Sammy on, probably sooner. With goals needed for an away win, it was the time to revert to a successful partnership, rather than try out a new pairing up front.
