BREAKING NEWS: Rebels may stay up

Rebels manager Alan Pook got a suprise phone call yesterday afternoon. Scarborough are about to go into liquidation and the knock-on effect throughout the pyramid means Worthing may not drop down to Ryman Division One South. The news will be confirmed by Tuesday but Rebels joint-manager and vice chairman Alan Pook was delighted but cautios about the news. He said: "Things will be confirmed by the FA on Monday but it is 99.9 per cent certain this will happen. Scarborough are in their fourth year of receivership. Unless a multi-millionaire comes in over the weekend to save them, which is unlikely to happen, then this will be confirmed." He said: "I spoke to Nick Robinson (Ryman League secretary) three weeks ago and asked if it was right that we would stay up. He said, No, there are teams in front of you'. Obviously things have changed. "It is great news but I have a two-fold response because we will be playing with a young side next year and this will be a much tougher division. The standard of the division below is much lower and it would have given the young players more time to settle in. I could virtually guarantee promotion from the division below but I cannot in this division. However, from a prestige, supporters and expectation point of view it is great and if the young players perform like I know they can we will be fine. My ambitions will not alter - we will be going hell for leather for a top six finish."

I assume that with Worthing staying up, somebody will have to move across, IE, Wealdstone.

Ah right, this was brought up on the Ithmian Fans Forum a week or so ago and a Wealdstone fan posted saying they had been told that after moving across to the Ryman they wouldn`t be moved back to the Southern again. I think it`s safe to say they won`t be pleased if this happens.

I think we are losing Berkhamstead from Ryman North back to the Southern League and they are going to move Molesey across from Ryman South.
