Fictitious band names.

Recommended Posts

During lulls in the proceedings at Ruislip Manor, the behind the goal crew played a game of 'Fictitious band names'. So as the new season is still a fair way off I thought it may keep us busy for a while.

The rules are it has to sound like it could be a band without actually being one.

Some examples were the famous indie outfit 'Dodgy Malaysian Umbros' or the prog rock 'Ergo Backpass'.

Bonus points for some sort of connection to the SSML, your own club/former club, or this forum.

Saint

I beleive that Ergo Backpass took their name from the Swiss Third Division player of the same name.

You also forgot the legends that are Jan Zelezny's Hair and the great Norwegian bass tenor Shelling Peas.

The Saint - Sorry but this thread sums up quite nicely the reason why I have indicated on a number of occasions that I would rather stay at home watching paint dry than spend an evening in the company of Lato, Spidermanor and Manorborn, and you it would seem. Anyway each to their own I suppose.

I rather like that Irish folk band, The Rag A.rse Rovers, who play in the pubs around Kentish Town and Kings Cross!

Gerry Hatrick And The Bedweters

Hugh Jampton and The Stretchskins

I think we upset our hosts at Worthing one year after arriving ridiculously early for a match. We played a raucous game of 'Colour Tunes'. In turn someone says a colour. The first person in the rest of the group to sing the words of a song that has that (or near as dammnit) colour in the lyrics, gets a point. It obviously needs lots of beer to help it along!

Eg: Copper

At the copper, copper cabana....

etc,

How the long winter nights just flew by arschkalt

Ah the mighty 'Whoooooosh!' were indeed germanys answer to Scoooch, but unfortunately most of their music went right over your head.

ps rhodesy if you think this is bad, you should try playing a game of 'Rod Steiger'.

and this reply from you sums up your need to be the centre of attention constantly and your craving for self promotion. You don't like the post, thats fair enough, but why do you feel the need to make a comment? Why not just ignore it like others who don't want to take part..no that would be too easy and instead you have to make a remark.

Lato - Well that's told you hasn't it, how many times do I have to say that I don't need or want to be the centre of attention and certainly don't crave self promotion, it's unfair of you to keep suggesting it.
