Agree with Mart, think the trust have done a lot of good for the club, and although people dont agree with all their decisions in the past (I haven't) I feel that the trust is, and im sure will continue to be, an important part of the club, and as for 'Part of the establishment' Chris will always act in what he belives to be the best interests of the club; no matter who he annoys in the process, i think all the steps so far seem to be in the right direction and i hope this continues when the season starts.

Perhaps it is best not to add in your two penneth when you are not fully aware of the facts.

Incidentally the Trust board is full as the three who have stepped down have all been replaced.

I'm pretty much aware of the facts alright martin..more than you know but hey its your club and you're the ones doing the whinging and getting relegated ...

nice one BR...I love the way you resort to personal abuse at the earliest opportunity....you will make a good little reporter one day.......for the nlp.. grin

good luck gary and chris....you'll need it...

Bitch, the aims of a Trust do not always automatically converge with the aims of those in control of the club. For example when Doug Ellis was in charge of Aston Villa, the Villa trust was oppossed to the way he was running the club because they did not believe it to be in the best interests of the club, its supporters or the "General Footballing Population"

I know plenty about your involvement with our club Unc. What do you know about my involvement? A quick search will tell you I'm on the board of the Trust.

Perhaps what Unc doesn't like about Trusts is that they call for greater transparency in the way football clubs are run and funded.

The new management committee appears to have been set up to assist Roy in his numerous tasks relating to the running of the football club and to make a better liason between the club and the trust which can be no bad thing.

aston villa would not exist without doug ellis regardless of what the fans may or may not think...

I know you are on the board of the trust martin and also know that you work hard for your club...the two are not however dependent on each other...people work better for their clubs in my opinion when not shackled with peer pressure from others...

I had to spit coffee over my keyboard over the transparency remark....quality stuff martin but perhaps you should have thought a little before typing that one....Hx is the most transparent club in NL and our fans know everything that goes on...given the huge amount of posts/publicity over there about lack of information...one could not in all honesty say the same about STFC...

my opinions and comments about trusts are well documented and perhaps have been taken out of context on this thread....I have much respect for the people at STFC that I know of and who work hard for their club...my opinion..which I am entitled to on a public forum set up to debate such matters.. is that trusts are just another vehicle for management or support...

ultimately it comes down to individual commitment and effort..regardless of the vehicle..

good luck to you all..

Sorry, hope the keyboard hasn't gone all gooey. Nobody likes that. I didn't say that Hx was not transparent nor did I claim Slough to be paragons of virtue. Any adverse implications you read into that are all your own.

It is hoped that one of the things Gary and Chris will be able to do in the new roles is help the club be a little clearer and open with the fans.

I still maintain that Trusts have their purposes particularly with clubs like ours. 10 seasons ago our club was on the verge of disappearing completely - until Martyn Deaner stepped in at the eleventh hour. The problem the supporters had was that there was no structure in place to enable them to run a football club. Had Deaner not stepped in the club would have died and the people of Slough would have been without a club for at least one season whilst the supporters sorted themselves out to be able to run something. Trusts have legal personality and therefore in theory can run football clubs. How many trusts are robust enough to take on that role is the real issue of debate.

At the moment we are in the midsts of a fairly positive summer at Slough with the club moving in the right direction and entering into positive meetings with the Local Authoirty ultimately I would love it if the club were able to find themselves a home in the borough and build the strong financial base needed to progress in the pyramid and leave the Trust as little more than a glorified supporters association.

Two things... sorry unc urchin / trusts are in place to be there when all else fails,,it really does not matter where the club has to re start or re form ...Its a safty net..and those members and boardroom directors of the Trust are very very important, and at last trusts are gaining momentuem and will only flurish !

2) It is important at this stage in the Slough Town History to help a little with the structure and have a link between the club and the Trust , I hope this will help us here at Slough Town and we can only speak for ourselves , this has been one of the grey areas for years now, and Gary and I will try to fulfil this gap as best we can , it will be difficult for people to understand this and wearing 2 hats will be difficult , but also its time for our supporters to put themselves forward too and learn how difficult it is to keep this train on the tracks...

It takes all to make a club ! and I mean every one ..including those who dont see eye to eye sometimes...the club is bigger than any one individual ...

we will only be trying to do our best , and I hope those members see it that way , and we can all pull together to ensure we move forward...and next year if people have a problem , please come and see me or gary and we will try to get the answers , instead of having a public debate on the failings..

cheers chris sliski

Good luck Gary and Chris, and thank you. The news on talks with Slough Borough Council and the move to Beaconsfield is positive. Good also to see Wilko still there.

Up the Rebels!
