New Management Committee at STFC

I like the idea of a middle ground between management and fans and am sure Chris and Gary will do everything they can to make communication between the two far more transparent than the efforts seen in previous years. Good luck to the pair of them.

I can't see how or why that should happen. One of the things I want to try and do, probably more with Chris's help, is getting the club and the Trust working together again and solidifying the relationship to move forwards together.

exactly - there has been something of an "us and them" mentality at times which is both divisive and harmful for the future of the club.

As far as I see it, the purpose of this management committee is to act as a sort of midway point to initiate and encourage dialogue between fans - represented by the trust and the management of the club. By having a seperate entity, it should ensure that one side isn't given preferential treatment over the other, eliminating some of the antagonism that has been present in the past.

never pleasing roger ! thats for sure...This was his main complain last year, we are trying to address it...and help the club, and ensure the communication is better, roger its your time to join the trust and have a go yourself and to ensure the trust gets stronger and more diverse in its support for the club.

I had not as the observer put it ! Gary and I see a way to try and solve the biggest problem that you as supporters have highlighted and try to ensure it looks a little better than one man trying to run the football club single handed...

Gary and Chris just make sure you are not made the scape goats when things go wrong, as sitting in the middle is a highly dangerous position, seen by the management as the friends and allies of the fans, or seen by the fans as the puppets of the club.

When the $hit hits the fan, I am sure Martyn Deaner will see you as expendable - it could all end in tears.

This Forum was set up so that indiviuals could voice there own opinion. It is easy to understand now why you were so against puting up a candidate at the Local Election, were you offered this post befor or after you made that decision. And why would please me this is just another ego trip for you.

Ego trip ! after 46 years of supporting one team and only one team...what you reckon...and supporting a non league side....

dont you think that not standing has done nothing ? all parties are talking ...now thats a step in the right direction..don't you agree...ok no results yet but its better than nothing in this case...and just maybe I was right...

as for the helping of Roy and the football club ..I am joining as a helper not a post as such ...and will endeavour to insure that the things most supporters have been asking for years will at last turned around....nothing ventured nothing gained...

cheers chris sliski

Reasons to be cheerful (or at least vaguely optomistic)

1. Discussions on new ground underway with all political parties, and a piece of land identified

2. New people on the Trust board

3. The new link between the club and the Trust. In reality this has been happening informally anyway, but good idea to have Gary and Chris as the go between, hopefully we will get to know what's going on a bit better. Will this will also mean people like Gary pushing to get more local sponsorship onside, rather than us just asking the club if this could happen and hitting a brick wall?

4. Links with ladies football team established again

5. Charlie volunteering to do press stuff.

6. Sue selling tequilla in the club shop

7. Being in the southern league (ok this is the crap one, can't wait for trips to Village People FC and another season at Slug Meadow)

I'm with Charlie on this one, and am looking forward to being able to work with the new committee, and will be trying my hardest to ensure that the club is seen in the right light. Both by the general footballing population and inside our own support.

The club has made a positive move in how it wants to be perceived by creating this committee, and we should all be behind it to get it, and not talking about it as a possible failure, before it has even got off the ground.

People have been saying for ages that the club needed to do something positive, and now it has. The posibilities of our future are now starting to look bright, so now is the time to have a united front. As soon as people and companies see inside unsurities they start to have second thoughts (in any walk of life). Let's not let that happen.

Chris why did you not stay on the trust board and have a true link between the club and the trust?

I am sure that you would have retained your position as trust secratary at a vote with all your years of experiance, however now you can not be held to account in a role which you have not been voted into, and this means that you are no-longer accountable to the fans, you are now part of the establishment of the club and it is surly a case of "Poacher turned Gamekeeper"?

just to chuck my objective tuppence in...I think its a good move...trusts are toothless and ultimately do fck all for football clubs except spout off on forums....gary and chris (one I know and one I know of) have the clubs interests at heart and are strong enough to stand firm....

no one ever did any good from the outer circle..these guys are inside the fortress now and will IMO make things happen more quickly and more constructively....

well done to them both for having the bollox to make the move and of course the way is open now for others to take their places on the trust board and work as hard as they did for the club...

hands up.... grin

What a load of [****!!****] that is Unc. The Slough trust has done numerous things that directly benefit the club (and in some cases these could be argued to be at the detriment of the Trust and its aims) and I am sure Roy would be the first to acknowledge that. Perhaps it is best not to add in your two penneth when you are not fully aware of the facts.

Incidentally the Trust board is full as the three who have stepped down have all been replaced.

As a member of the 'General Footballing Population'... How can something that benefits the club be in detriment to the Trust? Surely the aim of a Football Trust is to be beneficial to the club it 'supports'?
