Totally agree with jl.

Never seen Gilley at right back but I think he is confident enough.

And who were the subs last night ? I could not see that far from the terraces.

I know it will probably change but I do like the intimacy of New Lodge. Might of kept me warmer too.

I feel people are being a bit overly critical of Henty, although his form has dropped recently. I agree with JL ,Williams has been on poor form and is not a good captain. Someone like Penn or JJ should be captain as they shout at the players and encourage them.

Would still play Wallace rather than Fewings, if Wallace had started more games he might have scored more and he is our top goalscorer.

Think I would start with the side that beat Chesham last week, but with Mooro replacing Gilley. Admittingly a bit harsh on Gilley who's done a superb job. Maybe now with Ollie and Mooro back, he'll get a start upfront! Don't think now is the time to start slating players. We're hardly spoilt for choice at the moment and if the squad gets any smaller then maybe we'll be turning up for games with our boots!

I thought Gilley was by rights a defender - not a striker. I thought he only played striker for the first and reserve teams in the absence of anyone else.

Also - Rantala has left the club from what I understand. He has not gone to another club. I think he got sick of being faffed around!

My team:

JJ

Penn

Moore

Adedeji

Kerrigan

Graham

Williams

Ansell

Graham

Fewings

Douglas

Subs

Wallace

Henty

Gilley

Fay

Morris

For me the alternative captains to Willo are Penn and Adedeji. Don't think keepers are the best captains as a rule, and both Russ and Ollie have captaincy experience elsewhere.

One thing is for certain, the team need a lift. The spirit shown by the players at chesham was excellent so get behind the players on saturday!

Gilley played a few games towards the end of last season as a forward when we didn't have any (Ed Chibogu or Victor Fayenuwo anybody?) and as Ryan said he scored a goal against Maidenhead - a delicate flick over the keeper as I recall <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> so far his only goal for us. Prior to the sutton game he only had a couple of sub appeaances this season, against Ford in the Bryco and East Thurrock in the ESC, both times replacing forwards.

Good comment from Borg describing him as not yet the finished article - "He's young, think about what Chris Moore or Ollie Adedeji were like at his age."

didnt Borg say something similar about scott forrester? ''best young striker outside of the conference''

tell you what then, give him about 3 games, then get rid of him.

my team for sat would be:

JJ

henty

Ollie

Moore

kerrigan

graham

ansell

penn

graham

dougie

fewings

I cannot believe williams is still in the side. what has he done lately? anyother player showing such a drastic lack in form would have been out ages ago. Maybe he is still in cos he is team captain, which he shouldnt be as he is way too quiet, the only person that should be captain is JJ as he sees it all from the back, is loud and the lads all seem to respect him mainly due to the fact that he is bloody good at what he does.

We badly need to get a midfielder in that can create something. Penn is a great ball winner but he seems to give the ball away too often. I know brennan was not popular with some and he did have a few weeknesses but he knew how to create some space and knock the ball off, same with carthy. the trouble is we havent replaced them.

Fewings desverves a run in the team, he does look a little unfit but his touch is much better than jamies and with dougie being a bit quicker they could make a good duo as they are so different.

Just think we are relying on the grahams too much to create thing for us. How often do we pass the ball through the middle of the pitch? its always win it, knock it wide to a graham. great in theory but we are one of the lowest scoring sides in the league so it aint working!

we don't pass the ball through the middle as we don't have an effective midfield. Russell is full of energy but can't distribute the ball. It's JJ for Captain he's the only one who shows any passion.

This going to put the cat among the pigeons, my team would be:

JJ (Captain)

Gilley (Toss up between Gilley and Penn - Penn givesmore options going forward but went for the more defensive player to give the Grahams more freedom)

Adedeji

Moore

Kerrigan

M Graham

Ansell (based on his performance against Chesham where he added a lot and energy and driving force, which we have been lacking in midfield)

Snowsill (It was difficult writing this as was his biggest critic last season but having seen him in the reserves against Dagenham, I think he could do a better job than Wills at the moment - also Wills might get sent off if he can remember what happened in the away game)

R Graham

Fewings (Did get a knock last saturday and did not look totally fit against Aveley. Deserves his place for his performance last Saturday)

Douglas

Subs: Wallace, Williams, Penn, Fay, Morris

That's my team - this is the team that Calder will pick

Gilley is naturally an attacking player who has been playing at the back to cover adedeji, he has done well. For more cover for the Grahams it would be better to play Penn. But, then both Penn and Kerrigan move forward.

Snowsill should definitely not play, we would be better off with an out of form Williams, Penn or Morris than him.

Not convinced that Gilley is better as an attacker - he's looked quite at home at CB in the past few games..... Never did much for me up front. Were he to play at right back I would be concerned about a lack of pace, at their place the Ks used so their wide men quite effectively and they were quite quick.

As I've said before elsewhere, I like Penn in a midfield role, just in front of the back 4 as he wins a lot of midfield ball their as opposed to Willo or Ansell (or Carthy last season) who tend to drop off deep more. Perhaps a midfield of Penn and Ansell would provide a good balance. So far as midfield creativity is concerned I think that's what the Grahams are in the team for....
