A very good asset to have.However he sometimes takes too long on the ball or tries to beat his man TWICE & then gets dispossessed but all in all a class player & he will do you more good than bad.

What's the betting our released players will come back to haunt us next season. Would like to compare our results when Protheroe was captain to when Hockton was captain. Will be a big plus for Chelmsford especially as he can cover midfield or full back-we may need two players to replace him.

Totally agree.

Whilst i think we understand that the playing budget may have been reduced;as regards to Protheroe, i think the pressure is on RT to justify this decision by replacing him with someone who is better.

In other postions, if we have a good nucleus of a squad-which we have- i can accept one or two players coming in who may be slightly down on plast seasons quality(though in the end they did not deliver anyway),but we do need a quality replacement for Protheroe.

 

If as one suspects, RT and LP did not see eye to eye, that is not imo a justifiable reaon for releasing LP(although it may be LP who wanted to go).

Either way, as a manager in any industry, you need to harness people skills to get the most out of your people-whatever their personality-thats what management is about.

 

However, to be fair, it may just be that RT can replace with better and all credit to him if and when he does.

Totally agree with all the above, wish he was still with us. As somebody mentioned earlier, he could well come back to haunt us next season.

Good signing for chelmsford, and a blow for us to lose a player of Proths quality cant see it being a easy task to find a replacement for him.

I am a big fan of Lee's - a good player and a top bloke. But, if the relationship - fopr whatever reason - is not good between the manager and / or other key player(s) and Lee, then it has to be the right decision. I know we like to think of football as very different to "work" but in some aspects it isn't, and for the team to be right, the chemistry, relationships and respect has to be right too. And let's be clear, this is not just a Margate or Robin Trott dilema, it is a football dilema.

 

So to Lee, I say, "thanks and good luck except against us!"
