AFC Sudbury Get Windfall

They have sold there old ground for £2.8m but say they intend to make the money last.

 

"It will not be the Club’s intention to plough the proceeds of sale into the playing budget in the hope of obtaining short term promotions with no possibility of sustaining that level of playing when the money runs out. We will not be wasting the family silver of Sudbury Town Football Club."

 

AFC Sudbury will be many peoples favourites for the title this season.

Says in that article that they've given £900k back to the council, so that leaves them with £1.9m. I can't see them not spending big to 'ensure' success at this level. Not that they'd even need to spend a fraction of that, of course.

We also have the debts of the old Sudbury Town to pay off. Should have around 1.5m left....a good deal of which is going to be spent on a new club house.£0.5m left, which will be left in the bank....and only the interest used on the club. Most of our directors are ex Sudbury Town, and are painfully aware of trying to play at a level that we cant afford !!!

Nice to have some money in the bank but i guess you have to be very careful not to waste it.

The better it is, the better functions you can cater for (and make money out of )Mind you, it may not be £1m to spend on it....just found out we have to pay the old capital gains tax....and believe it or not...the local councils legal fees !!!! Bloody leeches !!

1m isnt as much as you would think for something like a club house, legal fees and alike will suck up loads
