Brass monkeys Aveley!

Well somebodys got to start the inquest! Don't know whether to laugh, cry or bang my head against a brick wall! The disappointing thing is that after Aveley had equalised there was an air of inevitability about it all. Aveley were there for the taking, but with what looked like two unfit strikers up front, we were struggling to turn our possesion into goals. Once again we failed to fill the bench. What's happened to the reserves? What's the point of having a reserve side if none of them are promoted into the first team when we are struggling? As for the penalties, well at no point was I ever confident we would get through. Still we have saturday to look forward to and the return of Mooro, Ansell and Duggie. It's a good job that our league form is better than our cup one! Chins up everyone, and remember, keep the faith!

Just about thawed out......

We started Ok, good value for a 1-0 half time lead, but after the break we didn't come out for the 2nd half. Aveley got a soft goal and we didn't start playing until 10 mins from the end - by which time we could have been dead an buried had Aveley not missed a brace of sitters. Extra time we attacked more, Aveley seemed content to sit back and hit on the break, but couldn't get through. Less said about the pens the better.

Is it just me for whom the words "Billericay" and "Penalties" are inextricably linked with the word "miss"? I'm sure we miss more than we score.

Was it me or did Aveley appear to "want it" more than us....It was our Best chance of silverware, not to mention a good night out for all at a final...Not even gonna use the pitch or freezing conditions as an excuse...Why oh why when it comes to BIG cup games do we all too often only play in fits n starts.

Oh well back to the league, roll on the K'S match....Let's hope that more players turn up for it than just a few last night!!!

Shame all round, could have been acracker with Chelmsford and us at New Lodge, never mind as we say at this time of the year " theres always next year " Good luck to Aveley in the final. Why did we not have a full sub bench to use ??

this was a very depressing result. the cup was there for the taking and once again when there is a chance of a good day out for the supporters the team have let us down badly.

there can be no excuses. we didnt deserve it and good luck to aveley. it is quite incredible that we failed to hit the target with 3 out of 4 pens..their keeper didnt even have to save them!!

i disagree with ryan about paul fewings. i think the last 2 games have shown what an asset paul is and could be to the club.

anyway lets hope we can pick ourselves up for saturday and at least aspire to a top 6 finish

There can be no excuses. They have all been used up. We were totally clueless. We just resorted to hoofing the ball up in the air (rarely forward). When we played the ball on the floor we looked quite dangerous - but this sadly was rare!

Set plays - again. What can you say?

We looked like we played for the 1-0 AGAIN. How many times must a defesive game fail before we realise we can't do it? It's just a shame it took 120+ minutes to lose when we were trying our best to throw it away from 50 minutes.

I for one thought GC's only saving grace this year would be some silverware. That's now gone - all through poor performances (there were no good performances in the whole of the Essex Cup that I can remember). HE MUST GO. Enough is enough. I'm fed up with thinking there's always next year. No progress in 4 years.

When he goes if he'd like to take that Shower of .... we call the central midfield with him then all the better.

JL, I wasn't having a pop at Fewings. I was just saying that he and Jamie didn't look fit. The point being that if we have players struggling with injuries (wether they were or not I don't know, just an observation) where are the players coming through from the ressies to replace them with? On the contrary, I think Paul is a decent player who should be given a decent run in the side.

Calder has a further season after this one.

Might suggest he instigates some penalty practise thursday.....

Unfortunately it is becoming worryingly predictable that in big cup games we grossly underperform. I don't know why, but over the last couple of seasons we've consistantly been knocked out by teams who at best are no better than us, and frequently come from a lower division.

wHY O WHY on earth do we continue to put up with Calder, the man's useless - he cannot motivate the players and has little clue as to tactics - he's long past his sell by date - The man's a dinosaur and needs a refresher course on Management - he's gone stale. I for one will NOT be going to watch BTFC until that twat is history......

So "anoymous", You may/you may not be right - with reference to management....But to say you will NOT watch B.T.F.C. whilst present management in charge I find a bit strong....I can understand at times "we" all get annoyed and at times "we" all miss a game or two - But to say you will NEVER watch B.T.F.C. whilst present management in charge is silly...

Imagine, (it was different management) - we have gone 6 league games without a win....but we get a plum draw in a cup competition against ie Hull City - What you are saying is "I would not attend" - Yes, we have faltered, yes we have lost some support, yes NOT ALL of US can go to every single game - I am one of them - But my support FOR B.T.F.C. will ALWAYS REMAIN THE SAME. I will go to as many games as I can get to....Whether Mickey Mouse or Kermit the Frog was in charge....And any game that I cannot go to I will always be thinking "I wonder how The Blues are getting on".
