nice to see people talk when they clearly don't know any of the facts and slander people. windsor sec you dread to think how much the club spent to "save my career". i dont want to run down anyone at the club so what i will say is that my mum and dad paid for my operation which if i would have known they would have to do all along i would have been back and playing for windsor within about a month and a half. i played 3 weeks after my operation. i could have sat it out and team mates said i should have because there were only 3 meaningless games to go. i could say more but i dont want to be petty. just think you should at least have a clue what you're on about before you start running down peoples character! especially when you are meant to be representing the club.

most importantly i've lost a year over an injury that should have been 2 months and I want to try and play at the best level i can. i like all the players and Ange has been brilliant to me so i'm grateful to them but if i stayed when i had a chance to be at a higher level i feel i would have almost wasted 2 years of a short career

The written word is libel not slander and, without getting into a slanging match, I'll back what I've said if needs be but you don't have to be a genius to work out that wages, scans, physio time and doctors' time works out as a significant investment to a small club for what will be no return.

This club has never stood in the way of players wishing to progress to a higher level so that in itself isn't an issue, but perhaps when you're a bit older and wiser you might look back and think you could have handled your departure in a different way!

I'll wish you the best of luck at Carshalton, they've had some really exciting players in their ranks over the years and you could join those ranks if you apply yourself correctly. You undoubtedly have the talent the rest is up to you!

what you said in the first post was a bit strong in my opinion. i am a person. i love football. and i got injured playing for the club. i didnt want to be injured. i always tried to come back before i was ready and wasnt allowed to. i wanted to play both for the club and for my own sake. for you to insinuate i'm disloyal is an outrageous attack on nothing to do with my football and you don't have a clue what my personality is like. and the most important thing for me and the reason i left afc was i need to enjoy my football. i dont mind people saying i'm crap at football on a football forum but not things like that. i dont know how else i could have handled leaving. should i have stayed out of guilt? i didnt have a go at anyone at the club. or do you mean i shouldnt have commented when my character was being questioned? i dont want to get into an argument either.

Rob - you make some fair comments. Fair enough - you got injured playing for the club and deserved the scans, physios, doctors time etc., but this is a club that can't afford your definitions of loyalty. The club were investing in you, and you paid them back by leaving.

If you really care more about the game than the money then your conscience should tell you you've betrayed the club and the fans.

Personally I think the minimum you should do is to pay back your wages for the games you didn't play in. Somehow I bet you find an excuse not to.

Best of luck with your career anyway.

oismiffy. like i said, i dont want to get petty on a public forum if you want to send me your email address i will continue the discussion.

dont paraphrase what i said to fit what you wanted me to say either please. plus there are points that i made which are contrary to something you just wrote showing you didnt read what i said properly or you just ignored it because it didn't suit your argument.

i dont want to rub anyone the wrong way, i'm not being aggressive

Windsor Sec, so why didn't your Club offered Rob an extension to his contract? Were you waiting to see if he was a good investment before committing to the player?

Rob Ursell is a talented young player who wishes to play football at the highest possible level.

The fact that he left your Club is something that you could have avoided.

How dare anyone challenge his commitment to the club when he came back to play after just 3 weeks of knee surgery?

Are you his agent then as you are so knowledgable about this?

Good luck at Carshalton Rob!

Rob,

I'm also sorry to see you go. The AFCW fans have a very high opinion of your talents, and from the tragically little I have seen of you playing for Windsor I agree with them. Unfortunately there have been a few examples of players taking advantage of the club in past years, so people here tend to be rather touchy. Anyway, all the best with your career, and I hope you enjoyed the pantomime!

Hi Rob

Have you ever thought of progressing your career with your 5 A Side skills. My team has played against MDU a few times and in my opinion you should try and move up the ladder(ie England futsal). I was in Brum on Sun,well done. I have recommended 3 or 4 players to Graeme Dell the England Mgr and I know he will be attending the umbro 5vs at wembley.

Rob has played for England in Futsal. I saw him and a few other non-league regulars play against Finland at Bisham.

First time i've been on the message board for a while and looks like this subject is dead. I just wanted to pick up on Rob Ursell's comment from his message of 08/06/07 10:57 AM...

"didnt want to waste 2 years of a short career".

Can I read between the lines and assume that you either expected us to get promotion last season to the Premier, or you had been told when you signed that we were dead certs for promotion?

Were you (Rob Ursell) not expecting to be at Windsor long term? i.e we get a group of guys together, turn them into a team over a 2-3 season period and then make our way back to the Premier?

U T R
