Made it to the match despite the traffic only to be told the game was off. Absolutely fed up as had phoned the club five times on the night (last call at 7:02) and been told that the game was on and there was no chance of it being called off.

Talking to Eddie Denton he said that the decision was quite right as the far side of the pitch was rutted and frozen at 7:45. Goodness knows why a decision couldn't have been made earlier given that the forcast for -3 was given at 5:00, and Gillingham was called of as early as three in the afternoon.

Thanks to the team and Roy for the appreciation of the efforts made by five of us to actually get there - didnt have a contact on the coach. Oh and especially to Eddie and Roy for the Guiness.

The referee inspected the pitch on his arrival and passed it fit to play at 18:50. He went out again at just gone 19:10 and then started to get concerned about a small area infront of the main stand. He inspected again at just gone 19:30 and decided to call the game off just as your team coach arrived. We could have had an early inspection but it would have passed, the same as it did at 18:50. Our Club tried desperately to get the game on and to show just how bad frozen the pitch was the team trained on it until gone nine with no ill effects, and with the pitch in no worse condition than when it was postponed.

The only reason marginal decisions like these are taken now is that the officials are very wary of being sued if players are seriously injured.

Apologies once again for those of you that had a wasted journey but hope the promotion drive keeps going and you can be assured a warm welcome when the fixture does take place

I wasnt trying to point the finger of blame at anyone, just was upset that having once again survived the rigours of the %25 (or north circular earlier in the year) the match couldn't go ahead.

Seemed a nice little ground and the pitch looked good. We will see how it is in April - that seems to be the only date both clubs have free.
