Decision on Dorking FC

Recommended Posts

The laughing stock spursfan has been the very unseemly wrangling over the ground and personnal insults (mainly from your side of the fence.

I don't suppose the present owners of Dorking are perfect but they seem to have the commercial nous to repel boarders so far. Nothing I have seen or heard from the atm army makes me think that you will improve the club.

You're better off starting in the lower division of the Intermediate League and learning what its like to run a club.

....And Guildford City are to stay in the CCL Premiership according to todays news.

P'raps ATM, as he's been christened on here, and his Crystal Balls might revert to the Spectrum Centre ?

One can only hope !

Nice to see you straying Sarf of Old Father Thames these days Unc.

I was in Wombledon earlier this afternoon, and it didn't look too sensible to me.

Incidently - I trust you have checked your new found mate's home town !

Sorry Uncle/trs to intrude

Back from pub and all that!

Did you know

Both Wimbledons played at Meadowbank

not a lot of people know that.

I think original Wimbledon beat Dorking 5 1 and Spurs by a similar scoreline.

Traumatic few years for me

So just Spurs to get for the AFC don boys to tie it up again.

I always wanted WFC to arrange a friendly at Meadowbank in the 90's - always seemed to end up at bleedin' Sutton!

Ah 5-1. Wasn't that Plough Lane approx 1991 with Venables, Ceefax Lineker et al? They didn't like it up 'em did they? Happy days! grin

well thats a difficult one for me to answer TSF as I am that rare animal..a fan who bought and ran a football club (aka a fool).. grin

personally I wouldn't change it because even the fall brought stability when my own world was topsy turvey and I was unable to do it myself even tho' I knew it needed to be changed......

seeing the joy on our fans faces as we rose 4 levels and enjoyed cup runs and treble fold gate increases and then seeing the despair when things went wrong were enough perhaps to edge me towards stability but edged with adventure within sustainability...that despair was certainly enough to convince me to stay and finish the job and I am pleased that I did despite the stick I had to take...its all part of the game..

it is possible to do it within means as we have this past two seasons...the sense of adventure is still prevailant amongst our fans but probably edged with a little trepidation...I don't think too many of them would change it either but I could be wrong..I am retired now and the missus runs it all...

ultimately it matters not...we have a strong team at the helm now..a successful set up with good attendences..loyal fans with good humour.. an excellent bar and restaurant.. conference income and we win football matches....

the past is for wombles... grin

i will have to look further UncleUrchin, I had only a small idea of your journey when I asked my question, Im sorry for my ignorance.

You may be able to give some insight to us over at Dorking, but I can see why you may be shaking the wise old head!

(have you read the book about the italian side by an American Journo, Castella De sangro I think its called?)

Oh the irony of saying that to BJR - he must know all about gloryhunters.. grin

I could discuss glory-hunting with you in the bar before Big Brian gets me p1ssed this Thursday.

On another note. Has someone nicked ATM's Crystal Ball cleaner ?

Gorn a bit quiet, ain't he ?

Its all a bit secret-squirrel at the moment.

More should become apparent at the end of the week, (hopefully).

By the way, does Ken Bates know of the counter bid ? He's definitely NOT someone to upset, (allegedly) !

Again JR you have me mistaken for Park Boy, you are so wrong.

Afternoon Spursfan

Just choosing what colours we should have for our away kit, any thoughts? and before you say it white is out of the question as it is a nightmare to keep white.

Big JR you do make me laugh. All this gloating about a team who has slipped down the pyramid system quite rapidly in the last few seasons. From what I hear they will be playing in CCL1 next season and what will you do in your spare time then as there isn't much banter on here about CCL1. Oh well at least you still have the Dorking Girls and Ladies to Cheer on!

I have looked everywhere for the green and red quarters and have come up with nothing.

I am led to believe that before they went to the hoops of green and white they had half the shirt Green and the other half White. I have found a nice Nike kit that has this with green shorts and green shocks.

And yes they do need to be different colours.

Being a West Ham Fan I would like to go for Claret and Blue but I don't won't to bring any bad luck to the new team.
