Decision on Dorking FC

Recommended Posts

a. A special delegation consisting of Messrs. Bennett, Pharo and Kelsey had met with representatives of Dorking FC last week, concerning their security of tenure.

The Club was clearly facing an uncertain time with the possibility of an eviction notice being served upon them in connection with a possible commercial re-development. A letter from the Club’s solicitor had been received, however, and this outlined the time span that would be involved, were an eviction notice to be served, including appeal processes etc.

In the light of that information the League was satisfied that Dorking would be able to complete their fixtures next season and on that basis it was accepted that the Club had given evidence of adequate security of tenure for season 2007-08. The Sub-Committee, therefore, recommended that Dorking FC’s inclusion within the constitution for the forthcoming season be endorsed. The League must be kept fully informed in respect of any notices served on them which may affect their tenure.

I understand that there might possibly be another announcement from DFC in the near future.

Just been reading the other Dorking Forum and someone made the point of the League are under the impression that the issue with Meadowbank is due to a Commercial development.

But I thought Salisbury's project was rejected, so is this back on or is this what Dorking have told they league instead of all the other stuff some people have brought up?

Is anyone really going to take a letter from their own solicitor seriously? It's like a note from your mum.

But if it's true then all they need now is a manager, some players and fans.

Could we have two Dorking teams next season?

Manager ?

I would refer you to my earlier post of 12:48 today, though due to the number of applications it might take more than a week.

Blimey, more franchising. I know it would fastrack Blue Square Premier football to Dorking, but really!

Dorking - the only town in Surrey with a stainless steel cockerel on a roundabout not to have a Conference National side. It's our birthright I tell you! grin

17 miles? laugh Blimey, you don't run that bit on the FA.com that tells you how many clubs within so many miles of where you live do you? Apparently I live 3.94 miles from Dorking FC (it is in fact about 200 yards)- apparently Leatherhead FC is nearer to me grin

Wimbledon Town Centre is approx 4 to 5 miles from Kingsmeadow. Wimbledon Common where the Old Centrals (forerunner of WFC) started up is a mile or so nearer, so not too bad. The ultimate aim is to return to Wimbledon of course in time.

Looking forward to the visit to Bridge Ave next season - Upminster is the adjacent tube station I believe.... grin

Except I only moved to Dorking in 1990 bleh

First game as an uncommitted and not particularly interested spectator was Dons v Brentford in 1982 at Plough Lane - away win. Relegation to Division 4 swiftly followed. The rest as they say......

Anyway, I was told I was a gloryhunter by following a team in the CCL crazy
