ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW SPONSOR

Recommended Posts

The semantics of whether it is the biggest or one of the biggest are totally unimportant the big news is that we seem to have a deal that guarantees us a reasonable budget for the next three seasons.

Hopefully that can be the springboard to more success on the field, hopefully generating larger gates, and also a platform to push forward the plans for a new stadium.

Congratulations to all who worked on this deal...and not forgetting a big thanks to Austrian Airlines for stepping in last year when we desperately needed them.

I agree. Why do we give a stuff about the amount. As long as it builds a long term platform, that is all the matters.

Its great that we have a good strategic sponsor on board for 3 years but without knowing the amounts involved its difficult to see whether this deal will be the enabler to bigger and better things that people are predicting/hoping.

I appreciate Jason may have been choosing his words when stating that there will be only a marginal increase in the playing budget. However as it was one of the smaller in the league anyway and if this is one of the biggest deals in non-league history then I dont understand why more money would not be available unless:

1) The value of the sponsorship is not as big as people might imagine (and I haven't a clue as to how much it might be or even the value of a typical conference sponsorship deal but someone on here should have an idea)

2) The extra money is to cover a shortfall previousley covered from directors pockets.

3) The money may be being spent in areas other than players wages.

The team as it stands at the moment has lost 2 key players in Ross and Charlie and (not knowing the new Macdonald) and is therefore at the moment a weaker team than last season. The quality and number of additional players Liam brings in may give us an indication as to any improved financial situation.

Actually, I bet the directors do "give a stuff" about the amount!
