ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW SPONSOR

Recommended Posts

Tuesday the 5th, as indicated by Jason at the " public consultation meeting" would have been better to get early local press coverage than an announcement on a Friday with the neewspapers publishing the following Wednesday and Thursday respectively. However, ours is not to reason why etc.

Anyone would think the club are doing it on purpose. We're on the brink of a major sponsorship deal that presumably has taken a fair bit of negotiation, and everyone's exasperated cos they have to wait a couple of weeks, or it's a couple of days later than when they said it would be.

Is there any scenario at this club where no-one moans at all...?

We all knew that the deal wasnt "done and dusted" - otherwise the Directors would have told us the new sponsor at the meeting - I guess the 5th June was a timescale based on things going totally to plan & theres obviously been a few "finer points" to iron out. If they'd said last week - "We'll announce on Tuesday" then changed it, I'd have said - "Set realistic timescales" - however a delay of 3 days on an announcement made over a month ago isnt that bad, surely?

Paul, obviously we don't know anything about the sponsorship deal and we can only speculate, but I think it will be a longer-term sponsorship deal, not necessarily three years, but definately one lasting longer than a season or two (Yes I know that means three years but it's a random example).

The club have never made a decision with the long-term security and prosperity of EUFC/GNFC not in their minds. I personally don't think they'd change the club name unless there was some kind of guarantee that it would have longer-term security, in this case, in terms of sponsorship from a group closely tied in with the Ebbsfleet development. They wouldn't change the club name and tie themselves down to a one-year deal with an Ebbsfleet brans, so to speak, that'd be a huge gamble and I can't see the club making such a gamble.

Until the board reveal everything(if they ever do), people will assume that this is the case!
It has been said before, if the name change is just hoping that in the future it will draw more people through the turnstiles, it is a very risky venture. I don't believe the board would gamble on that!

Unless you know different Paul! wink smile

Or it could be something as simple as the non-availabilty of someone from the Club or the sponsor on Wednesday, or even a problem with the venue for the announcement. It is often simple things that cause delays

All this moaning and groaning. If any of you have been involved in business as I am sure you have you will realise that the timetabe for press releases can be amended for one reason or another.

Just because the news is being delayed doesn't necesarily mean that the Board are being underhand or trying to hide something.

We wil all have to be a bit more patient that's all.

I thought the club made it clear that the new sponsorship deal had nothing to do with the name change? Not that there should be any reason to think that that was the case.

It would be short-termism of the worst kind if the name change was to secure a new sponsor, we would be changing names as often as we change shirts.

Makes it seem daft kicking Austrian Airways into touch then doesn't it?

Not as daft as making daft comments on the 3rd of June when by simply waiting until the 8th of June you could make an intelligent informed comment.
