Geoff Davis-A Short Obituary

It is with much regret and sadness that the club announce the death of its Hon Match Secretary, Mr Geoff Davis.

 

Geoff passed away peacefully earlier today at Oldchurch Hospital after a short illness.

 

For over 40 years Geoff served both the Essex Football Leagues and Hornchurch Football Club both as a referee and as an Administrator, his contribution to those organisations will be remembered and indeed sorely missed.

 

Funeral arrangements will be announced in due course and there will be a minutes silence held in his memory at tonights match at East Thurrock United.

I'm sure there are many others

Over the number of years I've known Geoff, his claim to fame was that he reffed ManU and Bobby Charlton was the biggest whinger, but he loved him.

Geoff was a great bloke and we all miss him.

I bought him a scotch at Oxford on 28th Dec and thats the last one.

We all love him!

Obviously we at Romford knew him from countless games and grounsharing, in fact Geoff was one of those involved in the negotiations for us to groundshare when we reformed.

We were very shocked to hear of the passing of a very knowledgeable and good secretary.
