Pictures Of Wexham Park

Thanks for taking those pics Gary - what a waste of a good ground....there are plenty of teams that could use a ground even in that condition......with some tlc etc.....& not just Slough obviously!

What is the owner planning to do - wait until it crumbles to the ground, in order to negate the need for demolition??!!

I took my good lady there a few weeks back - we were passing & I too couldn't get in.

Looks like I was lucky last night then to find the side door by the turnstiles ajar.

Must admit, I was really gutted to be walking round the place and see the state of it, particularly the main stand.

I can only think Byron is going to let it rot until he is asked to pull it down and then look to develop it.

Depending on whether the whole facility is looked after or not, Byron could ask two possible questions to the planning authorities....

1. Can I knock down this very tidy non-league football ground and conferencing facility together with a well tendered driving range, all in well cared for grounds so I can build houses?

2. Can I knock down this run down football ground that's falling to pieces, is a health and safety hazard and will be condemned as unsafe, together with this overgrown and unused driving range so I can build some lovely new houses?

Notwithstanding the green belt issue there will come a point when letting him build houses looks like an attractive option to what's left there. He's a wealthy businessman, he isn't stupid.

Ian.

BR there is something regarding that, but it depends on just how run down and unsafe the property is. I'm not sure how this is rated in the bigger scheme of things and I'm sure if necessary, he would just shut off access to those areas or do the absolute minimum required to cover the work.

Anon, that is not strictly true. A local authority can serve a notice on any landowner requiring them to make good a site that they own. This power is used sparingly and only in cases where the site is derelict and dangerous. Of course The Park falls within South Bucks.

I was a regular fan who eventually went on to play for the club in the Wexham Pk days and it is so sad to see what has happened to my old local side.

It would be nice if the council and/or the supporters trust got together and maybe started a new club. I think with the current state of the club there is no chance of seeing a competitive side play in Slough, with local players at any level again
