January 17 1975 - Romford Review

Recommended Posts

Romford, who officially announced the sale of their Brooklands home today for £600,000 may still be playing there next year.

A spokesman for London and Quadrant Housing Trust Ltd told me yesterday,

'If we can come to a share deal we shall be seen in a better light with the Romford public than Havering Borough Council to whom Boro blame for losing their ground. Clearly this would be better than an arrangement sharing a ground with Hornchurch, this has now been ruled out'.

Mr Jim Parrish, Romford Chairman said

'We want to get across to everyone that even though we shall not have a home next season we shall continue, we shall not cease to exist be it known as Romford or any other name'

Boro, currently £300,000 in debt had previously agreed a deal with Havering Council for the sale of Brooklands for one million pounds which the council pulled out of at the last minute, this according to Parrish, cost Boro £400,000. Mr Parrish said

'We are not bitter, just disappointed at the way the Council Of Havering have treated us'

nowt changes does it, dance with the devil and the devil dances with you.. devil
