Don't you ever read other people's posts properly, you bigoted twerp? Baldock_Town has explained that it was necessary to move to a new ground to meet SSMFL requirements, and in the end, they couldn't afford to do it. Fortunately for them, they had a fall back option with the Herts County League Div 1.

Horace - Yes I read all of that but it's not much of a fall back option is it and they say themselves that their preference was to play in the SSML which would have been a far better quality of football at the end of the day.

So what's your problem with Sport London e Benfica then?

Are you sure about that?

I don't have blinkered views as you suggest and am certainly not obnoxious, I have simply questionned whether your Club are up to the task of Step 6 football next season and you have gone on the defensive for some reason, it's a big step up from the Middlesex County League.

If you read it, did you not understand it? They couldn't get the proposed new ground up to scratch for the SSMFL, SO THEY COULDN'T JOIN, COULD THEY?

Could have got a dodgy groundshare(sorry not groundshare) but occasional use of a ground that would have enabled them to play in the league and then when they didnt pay the host club and they decided they didnt want them using their facilities anymore could have just played away games. Thats allowed in this league isnt it??

Are you talking about 'the mighty' Whitewebbs, do I have to, we didn't really take the game that seriously and used it more as a practice session.

You make out the County League and SSML like it's League Two playing the Premiership!! Having watched quite a bit of SSML in my time, I don't believe there is a substantial leap in quality. Should we have been playing at a floodlit ground and therefore been able to play in Division 1, we could easily have held our own in my view.

With regard to not being able to afford to do the other venue up, I don't think that is strictly true. In the long term, Stotfold Road was not a viable option simply because we could only lease it off the owners for 2-3 seasons. By possibly spending a lot of money on this venue, we felt that if we went ahead with the work and then ended up being kicked out we would have spent a lot of money on a short-term investment. Also Stotfold Road had no floodlights, not saying that we would but if we had won SSML Div 2 next season, we would be playing in the same division the following season. At least Herts County League Div 1 gives us the opportunity to go for promotion.

After a recent meeting with councillors in Baldock, we are hoping that in a few seasons we will be able to build our own facility and eventually compete in SSML and in the future kick on from there.

I appreciate that we may have upset certain individuals by keeping our plans within the club, but you always have to have contingency plans in place and sometimes it is better not to disclose these until the full picture can be seen.

Old team mate of mine manages one of the Div 1 sides in the County League. Personally my hope is to get back playing in the SSML (i'm recovering from injury) this season but that will depend on getting fit, losing a stone and most importantly my knee being strong enough!

I've played at St Margarets, Hoddesdon and Hertford (couple of others as well), not seen you guys at all.

Oh right, you are not going to disclose who the County League side is then??

We will find out who our opponents are at the AGM tonight although we have already seen the proposed constitution. If you get the chance, come and see one of our pre-season matches. We are a young side with a few older heads forming the back bone of the side. As a team we lack a bit of experience, but we are hoping our younger legs can help us challenge for honours in the coming season.

I am another football fan who is sad to se that Baldock won't be in the SSML next season, as in my opinion (as a langford fan who knows a number of their squad), they would have been in contention for promotion.

I live in Letchworth, and upto a few seasons ago we had Letchworth, Baldock Town and Letchworth Bridger (SSML Division One) all playing a good standard of Football, sadly, only Baldock Town in their new form have survived, so I would like to wish them the all the best for next season

On another matter the SSML are probably going to miss out on the "WORLDWIDE PUBLICITY"???? that surrounds Baldock's links with Kevin Phillips, as you are all no doubt aware, he played there before his rise to the Premiership and beyond

I am assuming you are talking about Mark Phillips?? If so, he was at Arlesey Athletic last season and was their top scorer although they didn't do that well in Division 1.

As for the publicity surrounding Kevin Phillips, although it helps the club's profile, we are not run by anyone involved with the old Baldock Town and were formed as Baldock FC in 2003 before becoming Baldock Town at the beginning of the season just passed.
