Wrong I'm afraid gavin, the FA Vase Rule 13 states:

13. FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT

(a) Dimensions of Field of Play and Ground Facilities

(i) All matches shall be played on a natural grass pitch.

(ii) The dimensions of the field of play for all matches shall be as follows:

Maximum length: 120 yards (110 metres), Minimum length: 110 yards (100 metres), Maximum breadth: 80 yards (75 metres), Minimum breadth: 70 yards (64 metres)

The playing surface should be prepared and maintained to a reasonable standard.

No Club shall alter the dimensions of its pitch during the season from those previously indicated on the entry form.

(iii) A Club must have regular use of an enclosed ground where charge for admission must be made and the attendance must be taken in all matches in the Competition.

(iv) Goal nets must be used in all matches.

(v) The playing area must be enclosed by a permanent fixed barrier on all four sides and may be infilled with advertisement hoardings or other barriers, the only exception

being those areas and spaces excluded from spectator viewing. Wire may not be used in rope form to connect the posts.

(vi) Dressing and washing accommodation must be separate for each team and Match Officials. Dressing Rooms must have heating, hot water and be secure and independent of any public access. Dressing room areas must be cleaned and maintained to a satisfactory standard. A call-up bell must be provided in the Match Officials dressing room and connected to each team dressing room.

(vii) Separate toilets must be provided for dressing rooms used by players and Match Officials, which must not be available for spectator use.

(viii) Floodlights must be provided to a standard set out in Appendix 1, and in accordance with Competition Rule 13©.

(ix) Entrances and exits must be provided to cater for the anticipated attendance. Access for emergency services must be provided.

(x) Each Club shall provide separate areas adjacent to the pitch for the sole use of Team Officials, medical staff and substitutes. Such designated areas shall be clearly marked “Home” and “Away”, have direct access to the pitch, be located as near as possible equidistant from the halfway line and be under cover. The team benches should also comply with Competition Rule 18.

(xi) Public Liability Insurance must be in place.

(xii) Hospitality for Visiting Club Officials must be provided in a designated area.

(xiii) Ladies and Gentlemen’s toilets, other than those used by players and Match Officials,

must be provided for spectators throughout the duration of ties.

(xiv) Refreshment facilities for spectators must be provided in all areas. Clubs shall provide a tea bar for the sale of hot and cold drinks and snacks for spectators during ties, in a Clubhouse or other suitable location. Glasses or Glass bottles must not be permitted outside of the Clubhouse or brought into grounds.

(xv) Covered accommodation for spectator use must be provided adjacent to the playing area or within the immediate vicinity of the playing area.

(xvi) An unimpeded protected passage must be provided between the dressing room and the pitch for the teams and Match Officials.

Certainly all Prem clubs have enclosed pitches and most have seperate routes to the pitch for players/officials. I'm only trying to point out potential pitfalls for the ground now, while there's time for them to be addressed.

The inspection for FA competitions is usually done by your local affiliated FA and they tend to turn up very close to the start of the season, leaving little time to make changes if required. If the picture above is accurate KTFC have a lot of work to do to get the ground fit to host football.

Read that with interest SM. We have Guildford City over our way that play at an Athletics track and they do not meet those requirements but are allowed to enter the FA Competitions.

If the barrier around the track can count then the protected walkway would only need to be as far as the barrier?

Krooner

It depends on the FA officials, as I say its usually done at county FA level and county FAs like to have good representation in competitions, so sometimes can be lenient on applying the rules. The opposition however do have the right to challenge the ground facilities (for a £250 fee of course) so it generally pays to get the work done.

To be honest I've not been to Copthall, and its hard to tell from the pic if the barrier around the the track goes all the way around all four sides of the pitch or not, or even if it meets the height criteria. Whoever plays there though is going to have to chase a lot of balls down the track before taking a throw in, unless the pitch gets inclosed. It also looks like the purchase of a couple of dug outs is required as well.

Looking at the other picture from Gavin, there may be an issue around the size of the changing rooms as well. Its looks like a couple of other grounds with tracks I've played at, and it might well be divided up into half a dozen smallish changing rooms it would depend on how they usually hire the pitch out (just 11 aside or do they divide it into 5 a side pitches). The FA also have changing room size criteria as well with minimum standards for home/away and officials as well.

Spidermanor - I've been watching this thread with keen interest today but couldn't physically get on to post, I really think that the above quote from you simply says it all. Rest assured that the long list of criteria you 'helpfully' posted that needs to be met in order for teams to play in the FA Vase has all but been addressed already and no stone has been left unturned such as making the Haringey game all ticket. Clearly you are just waiting for us to fall flat on our faces but I'm sorry to disappoint you my friend, it ain't going to happen.

Actually rhodes your response says it all about YOU and YOUR character. Can you highlight ANY of my comments in this thread which put Kentish Town down in any way?

I qualified all my comments on this thread with the comment 'based on the pics posted'. All you had to say was, we are working on it, thanks for your concern. But you of course are far to nasty and spiteful to do that. If I wanted you to fail or fall flat on your face I wouldn't have highlighted potential grading problems at this point in time, I'd have let you carry on and muck it up. But if you are too arrogant and stuck up your own backside to accept/appreciate honest advice then so be it, you have been warned.

None of my comments on this thread have been malicious in any way, they were honest questions/opinions based on my own knowledge and experience in preparing a football ground for FA competition. That knowledge and experience is far greater than yours, as I've actually done the job and you quite obviously haven't. I shall now go away again and watch with wry amusement your next string of nasty, abusive comments sprayed in all directions in your desperate attempt at attention seeking.

To all concerned, Please look at the picture closely, and you will see that Coptall Playing surface in totally enclosed with a perimiter fence, that will have sponsorship boards in place before the season starts, and the ground is totally enclosed, though the pictures are decieiving, it meats all the requirements for the FA Vase and will need only minor work to meet the requirements for the FA Cup, and if you come to our first home match of the season, then you will be able to see it in its full glory.

take care

First of all, can I say that I applaud Kentish Town's brave decision to play at Copthall. But just to clear up the apparent confusion about whether the pitch is enclosed, see the picture below. There IS clearly a fence around the outside of the running track, but not immediately around the playing surface. This is the normal arrangement for athletic stadia, and no doubt has to remain like that.

Rhodes do you know anything about history of the Barnet Copthall legendary womens team? if you did you would know who the management was and how i know so much about your future home!

3praise - As far as I can see you know nothing about our future home and I'll be surprised if you even know where it is. Anyway that reminds me, I bumped into Eric Bikubi recently, 'our' Women's Coach, and I had an interesting conversation with him. I was surprised to learn that Tracy Cohen walked out of the gates of heaven with a flea in her ear after being told her services were no longer required, is that any way to treat someone who had been there from day one, stayed loyal to the Club and who drove players to far flung away games, such as Norwich, never asking for a penny in petrol money.

3praise - What question was that again, if it was the one about the Copthall Stadium Women's Team and their history then I readily confess that I know very little, why on earth should I. Now more impotantly why don't you answer my question about poor Tracy Cohen and the terrible way she was treated by the Club she adores, sorry adored.

3praise - Well that's a terrible thing to say about Tracy who has remained totally loyal to the Club and still had the ability to do a job for the team, she was also an acomplished goalkeeper. She was also the Club Secretary's blue eyed girl so he can't have been too chuffed at her walking out of the gates of heaven, I'm surprised he didn't hand in his resignation to 'Sugar' in protest at her treatment.

  • 4 years later...

It's quite sad to read this thread from just before Kentish Town started playing at the Copthall Stadium in 2007, everything was so positive and promising, like a new dawn, yet it has all ended in tears and the Club are back to square one. On the plus side though I gather they still hold the franchise for the tea and burger bar which, depending on how long they have it for, could prove quite lucrative when Saracens start playing there.
