A fine compliment from CHARLIE MACDONALD on ROSS SMITH in todays NLP.

"There are other players at what is now Ebbsfleet who are good enough to play in the League & centre back ROSS SMITH is certainly a League player in the making. He's had two good seasons at the club and is a really solid defender. Two seasons ago he cleaned up with in the clubs player of the year awards and this year he's had an equally good season. I'm sure there will soon be interest in him and you never know,it might even happen for him this year".

A very nice chap & a very decent player.Has improved no-end since he started out with us & I'm sure he will be rewarded soon too.. Good luck Ross.

yup a excellent find by CK he always had a good eye for players with the odd exception but on the hole he found a lot of good lads.

A real shame his inabillty to look past 5 at the back, coupled with some quite awful injury problems with Clarke, Green(makes me shuder still), Oates, Annon, Gradley, Barnett(that dude spent more time on the sidelines being treated then on the pitch) took us down.

Did Chris ACTUALLY seek him out or wasn't it more the case that he just turned up as a trialist & impressed? Cant recall.

Or was it he was also a friend of Peter Benevides & he got into the squad via him mentioning him to Chris?

Does it really matter? Surely Chris was the one who gave RS his chance.

Yes I do believe he came over recommended by Peter Benevides, as they were good friends. Fair play to CK for giving him the chance to shine. Ross was always a cut above for us and you could never question his passion for the game. A very good player and a true gent off the field, wish him all the very best.

Been ousted by Ebbsfleet for taking too long to sign a contract I see. Good luck to Ross wherever he ends up. He should be in a football league side & I'm sure he will find a club near that mark to take him on, but if you are reading this Ross & you DO get stuck for a club I'm sure we would all like to see you back here. I would anyway. Think about it & call Trotty.(May have to take a drop in wages though but the other benefits are worth having..apart from seeing a new stadium rise up that is l.o.l.) You got some good friends down here!
