FleetFanatic
Some people want these forums to be REGISTERED users only. Some people want these forums open to NON-REGISTERED too. For now, I have altered the settings so everybody can read the forums, but you have to be registered to post. So let's have a vote amongst the registered users. The choice awaits you all. Poll will close Thursday 10am.
Halifax Lass
Yep, I know I'm a pain in the [****!!****] but can you clarify something for me? What about those people who don't have access to a pc at home and can't register at work either but maybe like to post occasionally. Same question about those maybe using school computers to post. I don't understand the technicalities, will they still be able to access? Sorry but I'll always stick up for the underdog against bureaucracy, comes from working in an over bureaucratic environment!
David Holden
You don't register a particular computer, you register yourself. Once you are registered you can logon from any computer that has access to the site. (provided you don't forget your password)
FleetFanatic
This is true. When somebody registers, they are basically reserving a username & password. Like Dave says, that can then be used on any computer. I use the same name whether I am at home or work.
Student Scum
All well and good whilst I'm at work (shock! horror! not a real student) but from any other PC...I'll be b*ggered if I can remember my password... Is there anywhere that I can reset my password to something more memorable? If not, can we have one?
David Holden
Absolutely, just go to "My Home" and then the first of the three edit screens.
Ronnie
I think it's a shame that we even have to consider making this forum registered only. After the Bedford match our old forum was flooded with posts from fans of other clubs up and down the Country, congratulating us on winning the Championship. That was brilliant but would not have happened if they had been required to register. OK so you expect to get one or two mischeif makers from other clubs coming on and stirring things up a bit if they don't have to register, but they are normally easy to spot and can be dealt with by the moderators. It's people that call themselves Fleet fans, who seem to want to use this site in order to slag off anyone and everyone who works for the good of the club that I will never understand. Good riddance. gazza701
Why should one pillock spoil it for many others (ie foghorn tony). The " friendly" banter between supporters of different teams is what its all about surely. Next thing will be that i cant go on the canvey island forum and wind them up (it may have been a long time ago, BUT ITS STILL FUN!!)
Slartibartfast
Couldn't agree more Ronnie, with the obvious exception of "Hereford Ford" the postings of congratulations from football fans from other Rymans league clubs as well as from clubs such as Huddersfield, Burton and especially the Canvey fans who took the time to post was fantastic. It also gives an opportunity for people like Inca Mark, Rogerinhonkers and the bloke in Australia who held a championship barbie to join in the fun. While everyone is entitled to their own opinions it does seem a shame that as in most things it only takes a few idiots to ruin things for everyone.
David Holden
It's actually not as bad as you think. Taking the examples that you gave, all the Canvey fans can still come and post as they are registered. Also people like Inca mark and Rogerinhonkers are also registered, as are most people who post on a regular and semi regular basis. What we are losing is the pasing trade, and those people who refuse to register on "religous grounds". Like most people I preferred the board when it was open, but as you say, it only takes a few idiots. Perhaps after a cooling off period we can take another poll and see if the board should be opened up again, and this time if the moderators do have to delete posts people who should know better won't lay into them as happened this time. Halifax Lass
I'm obviously not very good at explaining things. I appreciate that people register themselves but to do so don't they have to have an e-mail address? The point I was trying to make was that not every has an e-mail address (not even a hotmail one) but may have access to the internet. On the other hand some people may have any number of e-mail addresses with different internet service providers and keep registering using different names.
*Keith*
The total for the votes so far only adds up to 40% - is there a technical hitch or am I misunderstanding something?
chris blanc
they actually add up to 98% somehow
David Holden
Quote: they actually add up to 98% somehow It's rounding each figure down to the nearest whole number!

nickbaines1987
I have been visiting this site for the last few months, and have only just managed to register. The only way I can get on to the site is at school. Because all e-mail sites are filtered, until now I was unable to collect my password and therefore I couldn't post any messages. I think it would be a lot easier for everyone if you could post messages without registering.
Halifax Lass
Have you registered your vote then young Baines? BTW Super Daz has being registered come into play yet as someone contacted me today to say they were unable to post or reply on this forum?
