My current take on the player situation

Apologies where this duplicates or omits some points made.

Am away for a week so trying to summarise the way i see things:

Its not all doom and gloom.

Biggest bonus to me is that Standen,Skinner and Haworth have signed (is that definately true).

Pity that haworth only on non contract terms as he could 'walk' at any time.

Frankly, i'd rather have those three sign and lose Dannny Hockton-we need squad depth.

No doubt DH is a class finisher and better than most, but if we have a good midfield, they will supply enough chances to a decent attack.

Beacause of that, i am disappointed that Protheroe and Abbo are going.

We knocked Abbo a bit, but our good run coincided with him on the right where he was always in space.

My concern remains that RT does not have enough contacts to get players in -we will see.

I think someone else made a point about Saul Anderton-i think he could do Oates job-just about (admittedly from the one game i saw him play in reserves.

If nothing else, it looks like we can almost field a team :

SCS

Anderton Smith, Trott (short retirement) Skinner

Saunders Mckimm Standen JJ

Pinns Haworth.

It could be worse-its still May, and it seems like we can field 11 players- 7 of whom have conf. national experience and we have Englands best keeper aswell.

Its not too bad therefore.

Have we got Whisker,Bagley,Barron, heath to add to squad depth?

I'm reading mixed messages about reservesleaving/staying.

Maybe we need to go back 12 months to look at Gravesend example. This time last season, their supporters were distraught-but look what daish did and the good season they had.

If RT can get 4/5 on board,we could still be ok.

Again, its only May-and yes-i have my own serious reservations about 'the style of RT'- but at this stage, he has not done too much wrong with regards to next season.

I see a bit of stuff re: the release of greg-sad on that aswell, but maybe we have seen the best of greg and Rt has got that one right-the same as CK released Braithwaite at the right time.

I expect everyone was up in arms when we lost Bugzy many seasons ago to st Johnston for a club record fee. Danny going could break that record me thinks. Im a little disapointed that Gregs gone but feel he's not got the pace anymore. I'm not too bothered about Abbo because I quite simply dont rate him. His work rate's not good enough for me. Proths is a big loss but i'd rather have jay in the middle of the park. I'd like to see a strong back 4. Pace and skill on the wings and a skillful fast striker thats clinical and makes his own chances aswell as finishing others. I still think that we've got some good youth and reserve players that are worth a look. I want to see players work their backsides off for 90 minutes and give it all for the club. There's plenty of time before the friendlies begin!

Marvellous, fantastic, wonderful, brilliant, terrific, lovely.

The futures bright the futures yellow. And hopefully blue as well. Agree though-an excellent post from MM.

BUT.... he did say "it's not too bad". Not 100% positive. Also has serious reservations about the "style of Trott". Purple flares would help his style, and possibly a rather nice hat!

An acquaintance of mine is close to Barrons step dad he has not been spoken to at this time, hope that changes he is imo ideal to play in the reserves and provide some cover and gain experience likewise heath and a couple of others, I just hope we don’t lose them.
