Latest News Release - Danny Hockton

Recommended Posts

Glad you can still laugh Hornet, when you lot played at our place you looked like a pub team, Foster kept it to 4-1 or Viduka might have got ten. But with King back and an excellent manager you should be looking to go up again.

Seriously, Hockton is a fantastic goalscorer (as is Main) but he never stays anywhere for more than a season or so, you became too reliant on his goals so now you can get a decent fee and get a better balanced team. I don't understand the doom and gloom on this board I've been reading today.

Hockton goes, life goes on sorry but that is it, another hockton will appear, yes he has done wonderfully well but he and the club move forwards, look at what we might get in return.

Now know for a fact that no one in the reserve set up has been offered anything, I said it before and will say it again there are a couple of players in that set up that if not protected will leave to play so called higher level football in the Kent League lol, god forbid they go to Ramsgate!!!! Oats leaving is a disgrace, the lad is quality.

Agree totally about Oates-an outrage he's gone. No way will we get a replacement full back of the same quality-the same can be said of Protheroe and Charlie. My other worry is are players going to want to play at this level with a club that promises so much year after year but doesn't deliver-it's not exactly enticing is it?

Apologies to those who may have found this post too realistic...sorry, I mean negative.

Things are not as bad as you think. Never seen Oates play, but he sounds like a good player. There are some very good U18's full backs coming through, the likes of Saul Anderton, who won ressie trophy "Young player of the year". Chaz Albrecht, very vesatile rightback/centre back. Andy Johnson (providing he stays)? Darryn Van... been a revelation in the reserves this year.

I think the future for reserves is looking quite healthy, albeit a little inexperienced???

Great shame to see him go. But, if he does not want to stay, and can't say I blame him, then we don't want him - simple as that. But he's provided us with some great moments over the last season and a half, so I wish him all the best, and hope we will come up against him again some time soon.

The thing is if he`s still at the club at the start of the new season , he will have to put up with the few that will make his life hell on the terreces by saying if he dosen`t want to be a blue then what the f..k are you doing here , Catch 22 no one wants him but everyone knows he wants to go somewhere else , what we should be saying is Danny don`t go stay and help us win promotion this time round , MAKE THE BLOKE FEEL LIKE HE`S WANTED BY US THE fANS AND BY THE CLUB , anyone that slags him off for wanting to better himself , tell them to keep it shut , but if he goes so be it , he will help us another way by using his fee to buy in some one else , Up the Gate.

Blimey, i thought there would have been more support for him to stay! shocked Nothing wrong with a player having ambition. Whether it's realistic or not i don't know. I'd like to think (as with Main) better a big fish in a small pond smile

If we get a good fee for DH surely that makes sense.

If we have a striker who can score 25 goals and a defence that lets in 10 goals less; that has the same effect as Danny scoring 35 goals !!

Maybe ,just maybe DH peaked last season.Maybe he was lucky with injuries last season.

Despite his goals, both DH and the team 'lost something' when DH was captain.

Its decisions like that which make me worry about RT

It could be that this works out in the gates favour.

Equally, i wish DH well

The fact that we lost at Vicarage Road says all that needs to be said about our away performances.

Surely there is an argument to say that Margate became too reliant on Hockton's goals? When he leaves perhaps it will spur on the other players to show their quality? I've always believed football is a team game and today's play-off was a perfect example. WBA have better players but Derby are a better team.

The season before last we were teetering on the edge of the abyss, with a team that couldn't or didn't seem to want to win a game. Along came Danny Hockton with 20 goals in half a season, followed later by Robin Trott to claw us back from the brink. This year Danny knocked in 40 goals and helped us to the brink of promotion with a team that at times played some of the best football we have seen in a long time. I for one hope he may yet stay with us, nothing is signed for certain as yet. But if he does indeed leave the club, I for one will wish him well in the future, and he will leave with my thanks for an outstanding performance for MFC ringing in his ears.

I may be viewing all this through rose tinted glasses, but if I am, then so be it.
