Clapton FC pre season friendly wanted

Recommended Posts

As we've discussed before at length, we did NOT meet. I observed you from a distance and laughed when a young innocent nearby asked whether you were Mr Bean or Basil Fawlty!

Yes that's right, I remember now, you were that tall imposing chap in a suit and smart hair cut with a lady on your arm, you didn't come across as overly friendly as if you had other things on your mind!

No, I wasn't - that was our, then, vice-chairman Brod Munro-Wilson and companion. We've discussed this before as well.

Horace - I don't recall that, I thought it was you. Did our paths cross that legendary evening then, I'm assuming you were there as you commented on the goal of the season and us not having numbers on our shirts. Incidentally what are the chances of a repeat performance in August or shall I formally write to your Secretary, you know it makes sense considering the publicity it brought your Club and we're still talking about it nine months down the line.

Rhodes, you are a complete tit! Our paths did not cross, and what publicity did the friendly bring to my club? You are the only person who still refers back to the game. Please don't waste the postage writing to our secretary for a game - we have arranged our games, against teams with proper kit and who will turn up in good time.

I take it this would be for your reserves, as I did read elsewhere on here you were demoted from first team / general secretary position to limit the potential embaressment to the club.

Manorborn - It wasn't so much that however the Club decided, with my agreement, to let someone else take over the high profile role of overall general Secretary of the Club to avoid situations like, for example, 'Sugar' approaching the SSML to get me barred from here. I will be taking more of a back seat role next season and keeping my head more below the parapit to avoid being unfairly shot at by the likes of yourself.

I have it on the highest authority that I never unfairly shoot.

I'm afraid I beg to differ on that one, I have taken a great deal of stick from you over a long period of time most of it unwarranted.

Coming from someone as slippery as you, that amounts to a full admission that the Club has sensibly demoted you in response to the embarrassment you caused them last season!

Horace - Not at all, you couldn't be further from the truth. I have been knocked over in the rush with offers from Club's to become their Secretary next season however have stayed loyal to Kentish Town in order to finish the innovative work we have started both on and off the field of play.

Paula - No surprisingly they weren't, I had expected them to come calling but then I would have had too hard an act to follow!

clip Rods, how much longer do we all have to watch this space for? And, as I said in my original response to this post, what if it doesn't?

Clapton kindly offered us a pre-season friendly at the Old Spotted Dog on 7 August but after much deliberation our Manager reluctantly turned it down as he felt it was too close to the opening day of the season.

I recall a club having to play two matches on the same day - and one of those was at The Spotted Dog. The matches kicked off 45 minutes apart I think. It was covered on Football Focus or something like that. In fact I think I have a copy of it on DVD knocking about somewhere.
