It was probably my sponsoring of his shirt. Kiss of death for a Margate player. After all, it saw Clarkey off.

And Pat Gradley.

But after I had seen him play some of the best football he had done, including the Conference years, I was rather hoping to see him again next season.

Sad to see Greg go i think he surprised alot of us this season and the last remaining Conference player we had left apart from Jay , in a way our loss but someone will use his vast experience to help them along , wonder where he will end up . Up the Gate.

Robin has an unenviable job trying to assemble a better team on a smaller budget.

The loss of Charlie is understandable as SCS will probably play at a higher level in the near future & was the better shot stopper of the two. A second keeper can be an area where we can save some money - if you commit the main keeper to play in every game (we had that situation with Jon Ventnor when we were in the Conference, you just have to bring in a loanee if your first choice is injured (we don't want another Nej at Lewes type situation).

Shame to lose Proths - but he must be a high earner - his loss of the Captains job seemed to affect his game - we lost the great early performances like at Walton & Folkestone.

Greg is a mystery especially Robins comment - "has not had a bad season and was excellent towards the end of it but he's looking for something different" - can only think he wants someone a little pacier.

The release of Donovan & Abbott are not a surprise but Wisker is .. I really thought that he had a future role to play (my main gripe with most Managers is that they don't maximise the use of substitutes - three minutes at the death is far too late to bring on a youngster).

One name that hasn't been mentioned is Nick Bagley, who has played really well when given the opportunity and if he continues to progress could be a first team regular by the end of next season.

Totally agree with Welshbob he does talk [****!!****]. Why put that garbage out in the first place. Shows he has no respect for players and imo there was no need to print the sh-t he comes out with.

Why could'nt he just give his retained list and keep his views to himself about ex players. What has he gained from slaging of these players who worked their [****!!****] off for Margate ? I'll answer that absolutely f-ck all.

Imo last season he played like a f-cking cart horse and cost the gate aleast 9 points on his sh-t performances but he still put himself on week in week out just shows he can't tell a decent player if he bit him on the [****!!****]. If he had put someone else on in his place we would'nt be still in the rymans.

He f-cks with young players heads a does not know how to handle confrontation and critisism. Anyone of you on this forum could have done about the same with the team we had last year as Trotty did.

At last. What a refreshing post bigtw. Someone who appreciates this is a discussion forum where you can express an opinion without having to lick Trotts ar$e. Last season was pathetic, throwing away a top of the table position with games in hand and wimpering out of the cups (still haven't forgiven the Potters Bar performance). O.k. Trott is cutting his teeth at management but he doesn't inspire me with much confidence and I wish he'd show some humility instead of all this self styled tough talk. Once he shows us success I will cease the criticism but until that day I'm in the unconvinced camp that at least have the gumption about them to speak up, with WelshBob and bigtw, and to an extent (ooh, camp and tent in the same sentence-I feel a punfest coming on) anyway I digress, erm where was I, oh yes.. to an extent Dutch Mike and John Kirby and occasionally Alex but he usually backtracks on any criticism. We need success and we need more info from the club and this building [****!!****] needs to be sorted out-we are the fans after all.

Rant over!!

"Robin has an unenviable job trying to assemble a better team on a smaller budget."

But I imagine our budget will still be among the biggest in the league.

As for Charlie, at least that gives SCS the assurance that he will definitely be No. 1 keeper next season.

Protheroe...hmmm, four goals in 43 games just isn't a good enough return.

Greg has been getting slower so I think that's a good decision. Still sad to see him go as he remained loyal through the dark days.

Should have got us promoted whilst he had a big budget then.

I think everyone is sad about Greg "Mr.Margate" Oates going. Another bad decision I feel.

I just love the constant sniping at our manager from a forum member who said on 20th April 2007 "Thankfully the board have seen sence (sic) and reappointed Trotty".

What made him change his mind?

As for good constructive argument I am all for it as long as it has no long lasting damage to the future of MFC.

That forum member wasn't me-I've been unsure of the reappointment as none of last seasons objectives were not achieved but sniping, opinions and changes of mind are allowed on here even if some don't like it. Some people can see the reality of last seasons achievements. It's known in the trade as tough $hit.

How the hell is anything anyone says on here going to affect the future of MFC. If I say Trott is a dodgy manager then I think he's man enough to go and prove me wrong-and I actually hope he does 'cos then I'll be enjoying supporting a successful team instead of some of the mediocraty I had to put up with last term.
Long live debate-some of us go to specsavers and some of us get our rose tinted ones from Poundland.

This summer could (and should) determine Trotty's managerial future. I, for one, thought last season was a failure and, as such, was not too convinced at him being offered another contract. He's made some bold moves in getting rid of the likes of Protheroe and Oates, and seemingly releasing younger players with some potential. Furthermore, I can not see that he has the 'contacts' to lure the names that will get us out of this league.

I re-iterate: after the wheeling and dealing he will now have to make this summer, it could define his future. He's made some brave decisions. Will they pay off? Hmmmm I remain to be convinced...

Actually I get mine from Rayners and as well as a blue tint (never liked rose for some reason) I have reaction as well as can be seen.

One thing I think I can agree with you though is that the trial is over and results will have to be the way of judging this season. If the results are not therre then the inevitable will happen not sooner or latter but at the right time I hope.

My mood changes all the time, after the potter bar game, It thought Trotty should be hung , drawn and quartered

After some of our big wins I thought we should have a statue of him outside the ground

Last season for me was a disappointment and I think that if he couldn't win it then, then he will have a much harder time winning it with a smaller budget

Hope I am wrong (usually am)
