The Angel of Ebbsfleet

Recommended Posts

A statue emulating the Angel of the North in Newcastle has been suggested to symbolise the new Ebbsfleet build.

Good idea or gimmick?

Speaking to a Geordie mate, he was very skeptical at first over their statue, but now is immensly proud of it, as are most of the north easterners.

If such a thing were to be built, we would HAVE to have an extra club badge to tie in with it.

What/who is the exact source of this "suggestion"?

Presumably from someone who hasn't visited the area? An Angel of the North type figure situated in a valley just wouldn't have the same visual impact as a statue situated high up on moorland.

Here's an idea - why not have a statue in the full - size shape of a football stadium, complete with terraces, seats and a pitch - to make it even more realistic they could let an up and coming local football club actually use it to make it even more realistic!

I'm not too sure studs would work too well on a pitch made of steel, welcome to try though tongue

If its a stautue off Brian Woolfe could be on a winner.

The woolfe man of the fleet could become a big tourist attraction.

I have also heard a rumour that all the new residents of Ebbsfleet will be given Kenny Burrett beards to wear on the sabbath. Not sure how true it is tho'.

The president of Turkmenstan built effigy of himself in every village. Every morning , it would have his latest speech pumped out of it. This is the same guy who shortend the year to 40 weeks but lengthend weeks to 10 days.

SO , bare with me , how about a 50meter high "Kenny" and evey day ay 3pm , it could shout out a phrase. Will keep the scholars talking for thousands of years taht one. I can see it now.

"What time is it?"

"Its Kenny Time"

"Ball in the hedge duh duh duh duh"

Only my thoughts. I do see on TV though that top sculptors from around the world will submit the design.

My dad suggested a large SPitfire or two fingers in the direction of France , but he is now 60 and entering the phase of his life where he hates everyone and wears chest high waist bands. BLESS

Look who is behind it.
We need to keep onside with those people, and tie the club in with it.

It was one of the main features on the BBC south East news last night.
You read about it here first, though.
Read it here, too.
We want to keep sweet with the people behind this project. Won't hurt our image one bit.

Blow the Angel of the North, we should have the Devil of the south, can honestly call ourselves the Red devils then smile

On a more serious note, as we are living in kent, and Ebbsfleet are going to be the pride of Kent, why not a giant winged Unicorn ?
