Hayes and Yeading FC???

BFR

Recommended Posts

I do feel sorry for the loyal band of Yeading supporters because on hearing this yesterday, the first thing that came to mind is that ultimately their club is going to be swallowed up. Their support base may be low, and whilst I don't think they had any massive rivalry with Hayes anyway, how many of them will go and watch the merged club? At least they now have the luxury of two grounds to choose from, but I still think it's a shame. Wouldn't want to see it happen to us, or even any of our local rivals.

Merges are last resort measurers...when all other channels are exhausted...

Now Maybe in a few year time Church Road will be sold and Yeadings ground will be re developed ...church road if owned will give Hayes the spring board to a spending spree ...but where will they get their supporters from...

sad day for Yeading .... They should have merged with AFC Hayes because they play in Yeading !!!!

cheers chris s

perhaps there is an inevitability about it all chris....those that go with the flow will survive and those that don't will flounder and die at level 6's and 7's....

You'd be happy with a Hornchurch-Romford merger then I take it? And the rest of the Hornchurch fans? Do you see it as inevitable? Just out of curiosity.

With the current position of Windsor and Slough a merger would make a logical move

Windsor have a ground and a chairman who knows how to run a club - Slough have the fans and a backer who is looking for an oppertunity to offload the liabilities of his time with the club.

Slough have the council saying they will help out, but all that looks on offer so far is Stokes suggesting a move back to Wexham park which would cost £150,000 or more to achieve and there is no reason why Byron Thorne would actually want tenants.

Stokes has bigger issues than STFC to deal with and the tax payers would go wild if they saw him wasting time and paying out council money on STFC.

The only option is a merger between Windsor and Slough.

You know it makes sence.

How do you know that Deaner is looking to offload? He's had any number of opportunities to get out before now and hasn't yet. Plus Slough may have the fans now but the ones I know wouldn't support a merged club.

Only we've not asked for any money from the council, merely cooperation from them in helping us find a site.

why should you think that I would be happy with such a merger...I never said that at all....what I said was that it has a ring of inevitability about it (such mergers as the one we are discussing) and in time I believe that it will be forced on many NL clubs in and around London.... if they wish to survive at a competitive level that is...

I'm not aware of any Slough fans who have openly said they would support a merged club. Every one that I've spoken to, and if you want me to put a number on it it's 30-40, have actively said they wouldn't.

Ian.
