Chris thanks Billericay

Chris has signed a four year contract with League Two side Peterborough.

There was a lot of interest in Chris from Conference right up to Championship with several clubs willing to offer immediate contracts.

Billericay agreed terms with Peterborough and a Local League one side, and the decision was then left to Chris.

With both clubs offering long contracts one might have thought that the League One side would be the obvious choice. But having visited both clubs and Chris being a very level headed young man, he rightly took time to decide which club he felt was right.

His decision was based upon Peterborough having a very ambitious young Chairman, a young ambitious Manager, and it is clearly a club on the up. The facilities at Peterborough are superb and Chris felt this is the club that would best further his long term career.

He can now look forward to a pre season which includes games V’s Manchester Utd, Liverpool, Celtic, Birmingham City, and Europe’s best, Billericay Town,

The club secured a fee of 35k for Chris which could rise to 50k if certain criteria is met, we also get a sell-on and a pre season friendly.

Chris has asked that I pass on his sincere thanks and appreciation to all Billericay town Supporters, Management and Officials.

Looks like a good deal all 'round. One of those genuine "every ones a winner" deals. Pre-season is starting to look pretty interesting.

Moving on 2 young players to league level within a few months is a marvellous achievement, and many congratulations are due to the people who have made it happen.

Also many congrats, and a huge good luck to Chris. We will miss you, but genuinely hope you do fantastically in the league.

Our club must now be getting a good reputation for enhancing the careers of talented young players, and that has to be a good thing. Cheers TC for the info.

Whelps is a good mate of mine. Hope he goes on to bigger and better things, and doesnt forget about me... grin

You may well have lost a key player, but you have to see this as good business for the club!

From what I saw at the Chelmo v Ricay semi final, I think you guys still have enough to compete at the top next season... smile
