After seven disappointing games with out a win Margate hung on last night to post their first win since 15th April. Unable to get anything from the those side at the lower end of the table Margate slide down was as dramatic as their early season rise up the table and what was a certain 3rd spot finish was/is under threat.

Returning defender Andy put in a fine performance to stabilize the back row and help Margate keep a clean sheet against Maidstone. Meanwhile Dan Hughes had a huge game, MOTM for me, and is becoming a must player. Margate went in front after a slow start. Settling into an even game Johnny played a nice ball to Kyle who calmly took the ball on holding his nerve his diagonal run gave him room to beat the keeper. It was then a case of hold on. Margate had the upper hand for good periods to the halftime whistle. Restarting well Margate looked good but struggled to find a way through Maidstone strong defence. Maidstone battled back and after 20 mins were the better side, especially in the air. However, Margate hung on and with 10 to go began to control the game winning the aerial battle. Maidstone had several great chances in both halves to score but lacked the final touch and at the whistle Margate could say that a bit of luck came their way. Even so a good win after a bad run. Well done all. Need something out of the next 2 games.

Home to Whitstable Friday night.
