Richie Hanlon - New Manager

Recommended Posts

Hmmmm - I would have preferred someone with a bit more experience.

He obviously talks a good game and hopefully his 'youthful' enthusiasm will go a long way. However, the cynic in me also suspects that his salary expectations may have been a bit lower than some of the other canditates.

Still no worries - just look at the managerial choices before Lord L arrived. Then again, maybe not.

Despite my present gloomy mood I obviously wish him and the team all the best and if we're top of the league next January my pessimism will be long forgotten.

I don't know if I'm stating the obvious here but it sounds like Hanlon could well be a mate of Steve Castle and in view of the closer links between the 1st Team and Reserves/Academy they needed to appoint someone who knows Castle and is happy to work with him.

I wouldn't be surprised if Steve Castle is heavily involved with the 1st Team especially considering Hanlon's lack of experience.

Whatever the situation, good luck to the guy.

Following our recent 'history', everyone will be watching closely to see who Richie appoints as his No.2, as they are a potential 'next manager' if things go wrong ........

Lets be positive as I don't even want to go there ... gagged

I was worried about the Cambride connection... it seems to get a job with gibbo you just need to say the right things, if he didn't hate me so much I'd be confident of becoming MD at William Verry!

So he didn't advertise it, was going to 'just go through the applicants who were close last time' then it was somebody who was already there (like Roddis) now somebody who Castle has had a hand in...

Castle for assistant?

Gibson has a history of crap appointments (Cook, Castle Cash) he ditched our good manager (Roberts) and got lucky with Lippiat

I shall reserve judgement but I'm not holding my breathe!

....which was in contrast to the article in the St Albans Observer which said that Steve Castle, the manager of next season's Reserve team, along with Lee Clarke, will be helping Ritchie with training pending the appointment of his Number 2.

These newspapers, eh? If these journos are to write this kind of fiction, you would think that the bloke from the Observer might liase with his counterpart at the Herts Advertiser in order to achieve some level of consisitancy.
