Richie Hanlon - New Manager

Recommended Posts

New manager is announced and it appears to be an interesting appointment.

We go from vastly experienced to 'lots of potential'.

Sounds like he has lots of contacts, plenty of enthusiasm and lots of ideas.

Similarities with Chris Coleman's entry into management immediately springs to mind.

Good luck to Richie and lets all get behind him and the team on our return to the Conference South.

Onwards and upwards !

Did he used to play for Peterborough and Stevenage?

As you say, only time will tell. He may prove to be our best manager ever, to return us to the Conference National, but it does seem like a risk! I wish him well.

One thing is for sure, he will have to do particuarly badly to be our worst ever manager!

Think they were both at Peterborough as well.

Just because a player's been around the block, doesn't mean he'll have loads of contacts in the managerial field. For example, I reckon that Phil Gridelet wouldn't have what it takes to be a manager.

Further, I agree with Maldini66. Why have we brought in a 29-year-old who's never managed before? He's got a vibrant personality? He wants to take the football club forward? In that case, what was wrong with me? Too old? What about Nick Roddis? He knew the players inside and out, and presumably wouldn't have been expensive to bring in seeing as he was already here.

It does seem to be a risk. Surley we should be looking at stability first, and risk-taking second?

Again in line with what someone else said, it seems to make little sense that other candidates with better footballing credentials have been rejected in favour of this guy, but good luck to him from me, and I wish him all the best.

Onwards and upwards indeed.

p.s. Similarities to Chris Coleman's appointment? Really?
