Hellenic Promotion & Relegation - 15th May

Slimbridge AFC have been accepted into the Southern League Midland Division, congratulations to all at Slimbridge.

Joining the Hellenic League Premier Division is Flackwell Heath from the Isthmian League. Flackwell are managed by Byron Walton, and have appointed Steve Hale as player/coach for the forthcoming Hellenic League campaign. ( Not the follically challenged Steve Hale previously with Carterton F.C.).

Welcome to Flackwell Heath as members of the Hellenic family.

Clubs promoted to the Premier Division are Bisley Sports and Badshot Lea from One East: Lydney Town and Hook Norton from One West.

Hook Norton have already provided their implementation plan, which is accepted and approved by the Board of Management. All will be in place by September, though special dispensation has been given to Hook Norton to use their existing club house, changing rooms, until the end of the year.

Bisley; Badshot Lea; Lydney Town: Applications for the promotion of the three clubs have been accepted in principle. Though prior to final ratification the three clubs have to provide the Board, by May 29th, implementation plans for resolvement of outstanding issues.

Harrow Hill and Thame United are relegated from the Premier Division, to Division One West and Division One East respectively.

Joining Division One East is Ascot United, whose inclusion to the Hellenic League has already been accepted and approved.

Patchway Town’s inclusion into Hellenic League Division One West is subject to arbitration by the FA. Two teams are eligible for promotion from The Gloucestershire County League, though the GCL are reluctant to lose two teams from their league.

Further updates will be posted on this website when available

Morning HTFC,

I think the answer is YES, Horley will get promoted. Remember Bookham finished 3rd last year and went up. Top two is automatic and 3rd place if either top 2 cannot go up.

Well done to Horley though you must be disappointed on missing out on the title.

Yes ! if they win all their 4 games to play they can catch both Horley and Worcester Park who are 2nd + 3rd. Horley 2nd on goal difference and both finished. From seeing table earlier (might be slightly out) they need to improve their goal diff by 18 - 20 goals to get third.

For next season, although there have been all sorts of enquiries, I think we are left with three applications to come into Div 1 of the CCL, all from the Middlesex County League. Sport London E Benfica is one but they share at Hanwell Town and with Hanwell relegated to the Spartan SM League it would make more sense probably for them to go to that League even though they are within the CCL catchment area. The League's view on this one is that if they are directed to us by the FA we will gladly accept them but it seems unlikely.

Neasden Foundation have also applied, intending to go into a ground share situation at Avenue Park, the ex-Viking Greenford ground, now in the hands of Bedfont Green FC. The CCL initially rejected their application on the grounds that clubs should not obtain promotion by going into a ground share but my understanding is that the Club consulted the FA and it may be that the initial decision will have to be changed.

The final applicant is Bedfont Sports, who play adjacent to Bedfont FC. They have built up a very purposeful ground and have permission for lights and we will undoubtedly be pleased to accept them. The problem is though that it does not look at the moment as if they will finish in a promotion place but with (I think) 4 matches still to go, that could change.

Farnham Town last night clinched the Division One championship by a point with a 2-2 draw at Warlingham, after being two up. Horley could only draw 1-1 at Farleigh, conceding an equaliser late on I understand. That was good enough to put Horley into 2nd place on goal difference over Worcester Park but they now have to wait to see if Warlingham can win their final four matches. If they do and they overhaul Horley's current better goal difference of 18 goals, Warlingham will be second, otherwise it will be Horley.

Horley,Farnham and Worcester Park have now completed their season.

The Management Committee has ordered that the Warlingham v Merrow match, called off last week because Merrow couldn't field a team, must be played in the circumstances and it is scheduled for Thursday 24 May. The other postponed match, Hanworth Villa v Coney Hall has been awarded to Hanworth Villa
