In Sodje's defence, if you add up all his minutes played during the season just gone and divide by the number of goals he scored (sad I know), it works out at around a goal every two (full) games. Not exactly MacDonald-esque, but not at all bad.

Sodje won us the game against oxford. I am forever grateful for that. A fabulous birthday present for me.

Also, Sodge's performances seemed to be improving towards the end of the season as did Lukes, who looked a lot more effective at the end of the season playing as an attacking midfielder who can run beyond the front two rather than up front with a 6ft 4in defender up his back for 90 minutes.

Both Sodge and Moore are still very young and should be better players next season.

The number of starts by Mac to those of Sodge and by goals scored in comparison, It would appear to me that Sodge is on a par with Mac on goal scoring abilities, Not only that, Sodge never had any chances of converting penalties. I could be wrong but I'll wait and see. Check the stats guys and put me right.

I think you're right. I looked at this and from memory if you allow 30 mins for each Sodje's substitute appearances (which may be a little generous) I think it worked out he'd played the equivalent of half the number of games Charlie played. If you subtract Charlie's penalties (8?) and doubled Sodje's goals (9) then there's nothing it it statistically. But I think we all know its not that simple.

Anyway I hope Sodje signs as I think he, out of all the youngsters, has the most potential. I dont expect him to start every match but he should get more starts than last season.

Footballers' performances are very hard to analyse by statistics alone. In cricket, for example, players' batting and bowling averages speak for themselves, but it is often difficult to judge a striker simply on goals scored, or even having taken such things as assists, possession, successful passes etc into account.

Sad to say, but I can't help but think that there may be something of a personality problem between Daish and Sodje. After Onome scored at Kidderminster and Liam's remarks about not making him have to drop him again by not playing well, he promptly dropped him from the starting line-up again for the very next game at home to Weymouth! The lad must have wondered what he had to do to get recognition. The club should do what ever it can to keep Sodje at Stonebridge Road next season.
