Thanks for the insight MF. I for one agree with you entirely.

I wonder if some of the critics were around a couple of seasons ago? If they were they should be able to see what has been achieved.

Local players ARE getting a chance and some are starting to make it through. But the idea that any half-decent youth or reserve player is going to be offered a long-term contract before he has proved himself is fanciful.

From Above

But the idea that any half-decent youth or reserve player is going to be offered a long-term contract before he has proved himself is fanciful.

And there we have the problem,

to prove themselves where exactly, if they go to the first team they should be able to play over a reasonable period to do so, your comment half decent? is insulting to the lads that have done so well, do you actually watch any reserve games Chris?

No one on here has asked for a long-term contract, only a holding contract has been mentioned, that I feel is sensible.

Look at your facts first, and by the way are all our first team players decent, the insults thrown at Hockton towards the end of the season would suggest he is only half decent!!!!!!!!

Fully agree with the HOLDING CONTRACTS idea. These are the players I'd definitely like to see be given a contract of some kind for next season

The reserves.......................

Karl Barron

Kenny Pratt

Kieran Morris

Danny Wisker

Danny Allen

Danny Stokes

Alan Heath

And the U18s that are playing (or have played at some stage this past season) reserve football...........

Paul Axon

Daryn Vanhinsbergh

Matt Bowles

Aaron Quain

Some very good prospects in there. If they dont want to sign a deal tieing them to the club then ok, theres plenty more where they came from but this lot above I think deserve a chance at it. Before I get a comment from bigtw about Danny Wisker along the lines of RT had his chance to use him last season but didnt...............give him a low wage contract and send him out on loan to Kent League Premier club like Faversham for a few months and see how he does there? (as an example I'm not just picking on Wisker but he's 1 that was around last season and not used enough so this way he gets first team football in highest rung of Kent League and if he does make the progress necessary he could find himself higher up the chain back at MFC)

Like others have said I dont want to see the clubs budget eaten into by this scheme but I do believe it would be beneficial so players can be put on a years contract and then sent out on loan to a Kent League Prem club to aid their development and monitor progress.

Birch blue I agree in part about Wisker but he was on a fair contract last season with Margate including a good wage but now that has been removed and he has been told there's no money for him in the budget this season.

He would have played for nothing last season but was offered a contract so took it. Like you say he wanted to play all last season and would have loved a loan deal but Trotty wanted him on the bench, so as he is on contract he sat there all last season.

My point is now Trotty is saying he won't sign him this year because he has'nt seen enough of him and he needs to get fit. How the f-ck can you win with that mentality.

Wisker is still thinking weather to stay or not and will make his disition over the close season so the dedication and disire to play for the gate are there, It would be nice to receive something back for there efforts rather than lame excusses.

By the way BB look at my post throughout the season and you will see I've been asking for what you ask in your post all season mate.
