Looks like McCarthy, Ross and Hawkins won't be with us next season then. wink

The signatures for next season of these three, along with Sodje, are the main prorities now in my view.

Possibly some of the other players may be on holiday, I would be surprised if LD didn't try to retain Ross ,Debolla,Sodje & Keeling, to name a few, any theories on whether Macarthy is willing or able to do another season ? especially after being voted player of the season.

Ebbsfleet United's two most experienced players have signed new contracts with the club for the new season.

Skipper Paul McCarthy, overwhelmingly chosen as Player of the Year in three polls, and defender Peter Hawkins have signed on for the Fleet for the 2007/2008 season, much to the delight of manager Liam Daish: "We lacked a little experience in the run in at the end of last season" he said. "To add Paul and Peter to the players who have already committed themselves to the club for next season is great news as they both performed brilliantly for us last term."

"Both Paul and Peter showed the value of their experience in a largely young side, and I hope to be able to add more players with their kind of credentials to the squad."

Excellent news, Hawkins ability to play anywhere at the back probably means we can get away with one less defender in the squad and we looked so much more solid with Macca than we did in the matches he missed.

Plus without Macca it would be hard to think of a candidate for captain.

We still need a couple more defenders, I hope one of them is Ross but whoever they are they need to be good enough to be in the starting line up.

Good that the two most experienced players have been signed up for another season, any more news would be welcomed. At least we have the core of a squad already in place, and the retention of some of the players mentioned above plus a few new faces should leave the club in a good position for the new season. :-)
