Next Season according to Tony Kempster

Recommended Posts

Tony's BGS&W League shows one or two interesting changes:

Abingdon United

AFC Hayes (New name for Brook House)

Andover

Bracknell Town

Bridgwater Town

Burnham

Didcot Town

Fleet Town

Gosport Borough

Hillingdon Borough

Marlow

New Milton Town

Newport IOW

Northwood

Paulton Rovers

Slough Town

Taunton Town

Thatcham Town

Uxbridge

Walton & Hersham

Winchester City

Windsor & Eton

Chesham and Oxford he is showing in the BGBM league. Three premier league relegations should give some tough competition. Fleet has come across from Isthmian 1S and Gosport Borough and Bridgwater are promotions from Step 5.

For those who haven't seen it, there is a new Southern League unofficial Forum at http://www.southernleague.net/

Bridgwater havent been promoted yet from what i have seen, they havent even finished the regular season in the Western Premier, let alone the playoffs, so theres a chance that one of the other 3 playoff clubs could make it in there...though I hope its Bridgwater if we were to end up in that league.

Interesting to see on that forum a Burnham fan asking about when the league members decision is made (apparently there is a meeting on May 14th), a response to it says that the Ryman 1 South is heavily over-subscribed.

great minds think a like lol,i did find it interesting though the more i look at it it could be that it would be better for us to play in the southern, although another had us playing in the southern last yearand we were put in the ryman, but maybe hes right this year.

New Milton Town? I assume this is the old Lymington & NM?

Without disrespect to any of them, there are so many tiny clubs in this league! That's not necessarily a bad thing either, if it enables us to get a good side together, consolidate and rebuild. Being in the Ryman 1S would mean travelling to bigger clubs and better grounds, but also a much tougher season overall IMO. Personally I'd be happy with either!

From the Forum on another's site:

Re: [Mike] Name changes for next season: [in reply to]

Quote:

There are very strong rumours that Lymington & new Milton are going to rename (no, not to AFC Lymington- that would be too much!!), but to New Milton Town.

Curiuosly that was the name of the team that used to play there, AFC Lymington moved to Fawcetts Field to become L&NM.

What goes round comes round?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Response:

Didn't New Milton Town merge with AFC Lymington?

So why are they scrapping the Lymington part and just going back to New Milton Town (technically half the club!).
