Chris Whelpdale and Ronnie Worster

Recommended Posts

Firstly- does anyone know if Whelpdale signed for Peterborough yet?

Secondly- anyone know if Ronnie Worster will be off in the summer as I've heard a few clubs were looking at him.

We have to try and keep hold of our younger plaers for next season to have a chance of going up!

Don't tell anyone, but I just had a sneaky look at the soapbox and it seems Chris has already left us.

Truth is, Chris is in the enviable position of having a choice of which League Club he goes to.

Lots of League clubs have been keen to formally speak with him, these include Local clubs, Dagenham, Southend, and the much publicised Peterborough.

The current state of play is there are Two Main contenders which are in different Leagues.

Chris is a level headed young man and whichever club he chooses, I know he would have given it due consideration. He will make the right choice for Chris Whelpdale.

As Chris is two years into a three year degree cousre there is the slightest chance he may stay with us until he gains his degree, But to be perfectly honest I can't see that happening, and as much as I would love to See him in a Billericay shirt next season, I would be disappointed if didnt move on.

Thanks for the up-date TC. It's good to hear first hand what's happening & I guess you shouldn't believe everything you read in the papers smile Great for CW that he's generated such interest.

Are you able to shed any light on the Goalkeeping situation yet? Or isn't there a "situation" at all grin

We expect to keep Both Billy and Ronnie for next season, sometimes people (agents)try to create as situation a that doesnt exist.

My own view is that agents at this level do more harm than good.

Look what happened to Danny Ekoku, signed for us on a Thursday, his agent then got him to sign for Walton & Hersham on the Friday for an extra few pounds, 5 weeks later he was sent packing and a bit later W & H were relegated. Hardly a career move was it.

An Agent has been claiming to represent Chris Whelpdale, which he doesn't, and because of his interference he almost made one League one club withdraw from negotiations.

Once the club found out the agent was acting completely off his own back, and he was not representing Chris, and he had No dealings with Billericay, the League club renewed their interest.

Within a few weeks we will have moved two players into the league in 5 months, Neither of those had agents, but both were patient and trusted us to do what right for them. We could have easily moved those players up to Conference South, or Conference National much earlier, and there they would undoubtedly have had a pay rise. Would an agent have rejected and advised against a move into conference football...I doubt it.

We have more talented youngsters, if there good enough, and when the time is right, we will make League clubs aware. What we wont be doing though is advising any of our players to take a small step up for a few quid when there is a real chance they can make it to league football by being patient.

But hey, some don't/won't listen and will always chase the pound note today instead of thinking about the five pound note which will be on offer tomorrow.

I'll "see" your sagacious and "raise" you perspicaciousness yay

Thanks TC. Interesting comments on Agents etc.. Providing the club and the players have common aims, their appears to be no need for them at non-league level.

Following TC's comments, it proves that the club has the best intentions for the players and CAN advise independantly, without the influence or interuptions of an Agent. This must be refreshing attitude in the big old world of football...

The manager has put together a young squad of players, players that require advise from their peers, especially about their careers. It's certainly a responsibility for a club to take that seriously and act acordingly, which this club has and is doing. And this can only act in our favour...

The less cynical of us will say that the club is putting some hoenesty and integrity back into the proceedings of dealing with players and their careers, which is long overdue.

Well done.

good to see that most of our talented squad id staying together. Just read on the sqautters forum that our side was being dismantled and that we are relegation fodder for next season. And just to think that we finished above them this season!

Well, my Google Alert (yes, I wear an Anorak) for news about CW has gone crazy for the last few hours after a quite couple of days. Several stories in the press today but the gist of it all seems to be that Posh have beaten Southend to sign him. Or perhaps they've just a better PR department grin

I think I'm starting to recognise Mr Pharmacists style. But why would he not post under his normal log-in?
