And what is wrong with the Eurovision Song Contest???

Ah yes, the Eurovision Song Contest fills me with nostalgia. Teddy Johnson and Pearl Carr winning with sing little birdie.

If you want to sing along to it, be my guest:

Written by Syd Cordell & Stan Butcher

Sing, sing, sing little birdie

Sing, sing, sing it

There's a bird on a branch

There's a branch on a tree

There's a tree in the meadow and that's where I long to be

'neath that bird on a branch

'neath that branch on a tree

'neath that tree in the meadow where you said you love me

Sing little birdie, sing your song

Sing, you'll help our love along

Sing little birdie up above

Sing a song of love

There's a bird on a branch

There's a branch on a tree

Where we carved our initials there for all the world to see

'neath that bird on a branch

'neath that branch on a tree

Where we promised our true love for all eternity

Sing little birdie, sing your song

Sing, you'll help our love along

Sing little birdie up above

Sing a song of love

When the years pass on by

And we're wed, you and I

And the bluebirds are singing their sweet love songs in the sky

We will dream of that bird

On a branch, on a tree

And that tree in the meadow where you said you love me

Sing little birdie, sing your song

Sing, you'll help our love along

Sing little birdie up above

Sing a song of love

Sing little birdie, sing your song

Sing, you'll help our love along

Sing little birdie up above

Sing a song of love

LOL: - Cookie you are singing out of tune.

Where'd you get that information from? I'm pretty certain the 1972 winner Vicky Leandros won with a song called Come What May and the 1973 winner Ann-Marie David won with a song called Wonderful Dream. I have these singles you see-being an old sad b*stard.

Bugger- now I've been lured into this thread!

Sorry Hornet.Am just going by Wikipedia & others including www.eurovision.tv. (As if I could REALLY remember for myself) laugh

-

1972 Luxembourg Vicky LEANDROS - Apres Toi - meaning("After you")

1973 Luxembourg Anne-Marie DAVID - Tu Te Reconnaitras - meaning - ("You'll recognise yourself")

HOWEVER going with THIS link below it gives your version of translated titles as you mention, so you are correct judging by this link Hornet.

Which countries have a head start on all the others before the show even begins? The ones who will recieve "neighbourly" votes, therefore have a head start on the others?

Serbia approx 40 - 50 points

Russia approx 30 - 40 points

Ukraine approx 20 - 30 points

Bosnia approx 20 -30 points

Denmark 10 - 20 points

Armenia approx 10 -20 points

Cyprus/Greece 10 or 12 points

Spain/Andorra 8- 12 points

Ireland 8 - 12 points(from UK)

Will this make a difference to the winning song this year?

With all the Balken countries sticking together, the Scandiavian countries and the Iberian ones too plus France never give us any points I think we should use our EU veto and declare ourselves the winners.

Never like this when we had the British Empire!!!!

Those were the days!!
