Champions League Final

Recommended Posts

While i am happy that man utd got stuffed last night to end their treble hopes, should the team that got to the final,AC Milan actually be there.

At the beginning of the season they were docked points & fined for financial irregularities ( ie cheating!).They were allowed to stay in serie a but should they not have been thrown out of european competition by uefa, surely UEFA have a responsibilty to all other clubs who manage to abide by the rules and discipline Milan.Because all that has happened is that they have got to the champions league final and all the glory they have had on the way to the final has resulted in them winning more money than they got fined by the italian league. In my opinion should you get found guilty of financial irregularities then relegation should be automatic,a large fine imposed and thrown out of all cup competitions for a minimum of 1 season.

Quite apart from Milan being involved in match fixng and being thrown out and then re-instated to the Champions League, it's an absolute nonsense that Liverpool are contesting their second Champions League Final in three seasons but have not won their domestic league for 17 years!

Yes, count them, 17 years. Uefa should bring back the Cup Winners Cup for a start, revert to knock-out football instead of the league system and only let the Champions of a league in to the European Cup!

Of course, money and television rights mean that this won't happen so we must wait and see whether the cheats or the also-rans get crowned "Champions" of Europe.

The West Ham saga is not over. The other clubs in the relegation battle are considering appealing against the lack of points deducted from West Ham. If they have a case to go through an appeal or courts, god kows when next season will start with clubs finally in their correct leagues.

well if the respective governing bodies took proper action at the time and made no appeal possible then matters would be closed straight away. There is no doubt that west ham, milan and wimbledon have all broken the rules but have not been punished surficciently.

And before you say george graham max that was 12 years ago and he was sacked but no further action taken due to lack of any real evidence. It is many peoples thoughts that graham was actually stitched up by the board at the time but this was never proved

The Irons did things the right way for years and yes they were wrong apparently this season but the fuddy duddies should have picked it up earlier and taken action earlier, it's that simple.

They should also try and look after their own ship as well.

Cup Final tickets being sold on the black market by their own members is an example. Not complying with the Taylor report is another viz a vie, the selling of tickets within the outskirts of grounds. The standing in seating areas because a decent rake value was not installed. The list is endless, it's many reasons why NLF is more enjoyable and less expensive.

Westie, it was Peter Swann, Bronco Lane and Tony Kay mefinks, the bribery affair in'63, late December I think!

Anyway good points lads, now then who was the last all English club to win the FA Cup twice?

Ah yes Liverpool, and thanks for reminding me, a great Cup Final that we drew with them. 3 3 and it could have been more, had all the nation tranfixed with two entertaining teams great goals, lucky goals, a crooked ref, two sets of fans out to enjoy themselves.

But why Liverpool?

max - when liverpool signed mascerano, they went to the premier league to ask how to correctly register him as they did not want to be in breach of rule U19 which forbids 3rd party contracts. their honesty exposed west ham's dishonesty.

Not dishonesty, more like naivety mate, been like that for ages remember Manny.

If you read Charles Korr's book on West Ham he confirms that when we were promoted in 1958, we based all our admin on 'ighbury mob, even took their No.2 to be our manager

And having had dealings with the 'ighbury admin on quite a few occasions I can confirm that it is excellent much better than WHL or QPR who are dreadful. Wembley (the old) was a total shambles, when we played Holland in '77 I took a party of Dutch and quite honestly they didn't want to know.

Then when we played Japan only a few years ago, we wanted to offer big sponsorship but they were so bad I said forget it.
