Talking of Adam Holloway did anyone else get the recent flyer from him?

They normaly go straight in the bin but just as I was about to chuck it I noticed the bit about the Fleet and decided to read it first before chucking it away...now I trust politicians about as far as I can throw an elephant but since Adam says he is behind the new ground and recommends that people should get down to the Fleet for a cracking afternoons entertainment then he can have my vote.

In 1995/96, there were only four to five hundred people at home games. To have doubled that in ten years is some achievement.

Compared to clubs in a similar position, the Club is holding it's own.

you only have to go back 10 years to see clubs like rochdale & chester struggling to get gates of 1500 in the football league.Non league football has come a long way since these days and is now more popular than ever.What you also have to realise is that there are many other clubs in your area and with certain re structuring that has happened over the last 5 years it means teams like maidstone,dover,dartford are 1-2 levels from conference south and are attracting decent gates for that level.The same is true north of the river where grays are now struggling with their gates as they have canvey,southend,hornchurch,dagenham,chelmsford,tilbury,aveley,

romford,billericay all within approx 20 miles away!

My opinions ( b*gger my old boots...opinions ??):-

 

a) History won't be lost...it's there ( unless we discover time travel & go back & change it...but what will that lead to ? )

 

It's move on or die time, if progress is what we want. Yep we can be in the Ryman league for years & be part time & increase sales of Bovril ! But do not people want to move on & try & progress ? Nothing ventured, nothing gained !!

 

c) As has been mentioned before, it must have been quite radical to merge Northfleet Utd & Gravesend Utd ( just a tad before my time ), but that's life Esther....things move on...things change. I'd rather have a club that's positive rather than sitting on it's [****!!****] &/or drifting backwards !

 

d) Urchin must be a retired lorry driver or doesn't get a lot of work, or maybe does not read the papers or watch television as to never have heard of Ebbsfleet ( but I don't really care !)

 

e) Not sure of the Utd bit.....how about Ebbsfleet Wednesday ( can't stand the thought of Wapman shouting Un-it-ed from the toilets, whilst missing the goals !! )

 

f) Go for it men ( and ladies )...you know it makes sense.

Apart from Rambo Dave, we have all learned to live with a change of pub name, ( Central to Ascot !)....yeah, still referred to as The Central, but is called a different name...we still go in there though !! ( cue people who say that this has no relevance whatsoever....but it does !)

 

g) I'll be there next season.....onwards & upwards ! Get those beers ordered !!

I am pretty sure that, if you stand with your back to the Stonbridge Road Turnstiles, look at the wall opposite, there is rather a large sign saying Ebbsfleet, must be all of Twenty yards away from the ground
