I suspect two or three of those will go elsewhere but if the remainder sign alongside those that have already signed we will have the basis of a good squad.
I wonder if Joel will get retained by Southend?

Portway was [****!!****] in his first game.

And don't forget, David, that the new generation of Fleet fan will say that Ports was playing at 2 or 3 levels below Conference - which would have made him a lesser player than those today.

The Southend website confirms Joel has been released along with one of the Sodje's (Efe), another young striker, James Lawson and 2 other 1st year pros.

Should Macca decide to stop playing next season, Efe Sodje wouldnt be a bad replacement!

If we played the two Sodge's in the same side we could sing "He aint Efe he's his brother" or nephew or whatever.....I'll get me coat.

I hear from a Southend fan that Sodje had a bust-up with Tilson - something about having too many "guests" in his hotel bedroom before a match!
